... rotten :) We also tried ripe but un-dried cacao, which was interesting, and they explained briefly how it gets from a fruit to chocolate. At the gardens, we were able to do a short hike through the rainforest, where we were able to spot all three local varieties of poison dart frogs. There´s the red one and the green one, and then the most dangerous, the one with yellow stripes.
Puerto Viejo, Province of Limon, Costa Rica kimandjohn... everybody at Soki was delighted with our efforts and gave us a good send off with lots of ChiCha.

We are now in P Viejo, having just taken the stuents to Manzanillo to see the coral reef. Such as whenever he gets ridiculously cheap or whenever he focuses too much on poker.

Our cousin had picked out a great spot to spend our time. El Silencio del Campo had everything you could want and then some. It was a cabin-room with enough space for the 3 of us, private bathroom, small fridge, TV (unnecessary), restaurant, pool and a ...

Puerto Viejo, Province of Limon, Costa Rica buckwonder... a supermarket that delivers on Liz´s sudden craving for pate & bread plus the Costa Rican hat pin. Next day wandering around (in the dry) yields an Ok butterfly farm, lots of birds and the stunning Hummingbird Gallery cafe at the Park entrance which has about 20 feeders & a permanent 50+ humming birds all for the price of a hot chocolate & yummy apple pie. Liz´s camera goes into overtime. Day wrapped up by evening visit to frog ´farm´- so we get to see those famous litle green ...
Monteverde, Province of Limon, Costa Rica pilgrim143... for dagen osv.

Park rangers and spotters go out after dark and look for fresh tracks. When they spot a turtle, they radio the guides and tell them where it is. Things are very tightly controlled, with the rangers limiting how many people go out on the beach, and where they stand in relation to the turtle. After standing around in the rain for an hour, all of us soaked by the ...
