So we just have 1 day at Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe before we head to Chobe, Botswana for our 2 day safaris, we then drive back to Victoria Falls for 3 days before going back to Jo'burg then back to Cairo.
Didn't do much today, flew into Vic Falls airport and paid a big chunk of money for a single entry visa, $75 USD for a single entry visa and met a representative from Flame of Africa, the company we booked with. We quickly checked into the Azambezi River Lodge and decided to go into town....

... that Irish don't need a visa for Zambia. We got our $50 back and left with huge grins on our faces! It kind of balances things out though because we have to pay $100 visa for Tanzania while everyone else pays $50, apparently the Ireland charges Tanzanians €60 for a Visa. After we got all the border formalities out of the way we had a short drive to the town of Livingston where we exchanged some US Dollars for Zambian Kwacha. My first purchase with this money was a ...
Livingstone, Southern, Zambia floreas... there when I will the lottery. Our motorboat with a private driver was waiting for us down by the river so we hopped in, not really knowing what was in store for us. Our driver gave us a couple of beers (best beer ever...Mosi) and drove us around looking for animals. Next we stopped at a tiny island in the middle of the Zambezi River where a waiter (Felix) was waiting for us with a very romantic picnic complete with wine and appetizers. Haha. Turns out they usually get ...
Livingstone, Zambia hb2africaVictoria Falls: utterly utterly beautiful, magnificent, stunning, amazing, and any other appropriate adjectives along the same lines - including breathtaking, literally, at places where the spray is so intense that the falls disappear and you are drenched in seconds. With the sun shining this meant that, with so much water in the air, you end up actually stood in your own ...
Livingstone, Zambia claireandian... clinic). In the afternoon we all rotate doing Reading Club or Art Club (both at schools), building projects, farming projects, or family support. Family support is in the yard of one of the medical clinics, where children just show up and we play with them. That was my afternoon activity on Friday. I think we had about 100 kids there, and six volunteers. Luckily we took quite a bit with us to entertain, but it was still somewhat organized chaos. Activities included ...
Livingstone, Zambia hilaryad... interested in that weird and wonderful species, so this usually fascinates me.
When people greet, it is not just “Hi” and then “Bye”, but rather “how are you?” and stay to actually listen to your reply! There is a pride in Zambia, people appear happy and content for the most part, and crime is so low.
As Nicole probably will write all the detailed events, I can/want to highlight my ...
... music and a dance performance and we had toasts to celebrate my last day on the trip. I split of bottle of wine with Kate and it was perhaps the best wine I have ever tasted.
Overall the tour has been spectacular and I have enjoyed nearly every minute of it. Tomorrow I fly to Johannesburg, South Africa where I hope to visit the Apartheid Museum before heading off to my next destination....Taipei, Taiwan. Keep Reading and take care.
... Oasis truck for the afternoon of our first day but having just been on a river cruise at Chobe a lot decided not to go. I think only Ania, Kelvin, Barsby, Mum and Jay went whilst the rest of us took the opportunity to relax around camp and meet up with them afterwards at Shoestrings, camp ground just down the way where other Oasis staying. To say they were drunk was an understatement. If people weren't getting thrown in the pool they were dirty dancing - girl on girl, boy on ...
