... went out to a tango show and then ended the night (all nights so far have ended about 4 or 5 in the morning, there is no such thing as an early night in Buenos Aires) in a bar in Palermo. Tomorrow we will leave BA and start travelling north towards Iguazu Falls. It sounds like the first few days will be wild camping.

Thanks for comments so far Gareth and James. I will do my best to keep you entertained...
Buenos Aires, Argentina ellie_cross... corrugated iron walls which are low enough to ensure no privacy between neighbouring yards, and it hangs on the shaky staircase that a puff of wind could surely knock down. Each flat only as big as a standard living room in our houses, contains six or seven members plus of any family, a toilet, a sink/ washbasin, a hob and some beds…and a token TV. It’s how you imagined the immigrants of New York to live back in the day in the Tenenmant buildings ...
Buenos Aires, Distrito Federal, Argentina cornflake... But when you love someone, it´s only honest that you tell them what you think (tactfully, of course) and if they love you, they can handle listening to it. Being a unique individual means that you take what I have to say and do with it what you will. Some people don´t like what I have to say and some people have even stopped talking to me because of it. It´s sad but they´ll make their own way. As you can see, it doesn´t stop me from saying what I ...
Buenos Aires, Argentina karsenault... if we had ordered another cup of coffee.
Not a bad trade for a quick look at my new toy!

We had taken the red-eye from Miami Wednesday night and arrived in Buenos Aires about 6:30 a.m. on Thursday morning. Two days into the trip, we have rented a tiny studio apartment in the Palermo section of town, and are starting to feel our way around the neighborhood.

In the meantime ...
Buenos Aires, Argentina riversbeyond... anyone you minded being stuck with). And with a great variety of travel plans in the mix, if all else failed you could use the opportunity to pick a few brains for hints, tips, and the like! The evening wore on, bars were drunk at (and thus we were drunk at bars..), photos were taken, we laughed, we danced, we laughed some more... and over the course of thirteen hours we managed to drink at thirteen ...
Buenos Aires, Argentina becstar26... so I suppose I´ll have to go this Monday. I´ve decided to stay around BA until after Paddy´s day cos it´s supposed to be pretty good here for it. There´s gonna be a parade here in the San Martin area (first time there´s ever been a parade on for Paddy´s day in BA). So that should be good. I booked my bus ticket to Mendoza today. I´ve decided I dont have time to get to Bariloche as I would only have about 6 days to get to Cusco then and it takes about 4 days ...
Buenos Aires, Argentina jpdutchman... parts of Argentina. I think they're the Aussie-style ones, and you need to borrow an adaptor from the front desk unless you happen to have Aussie appliances. Come to think of it, the Hotel Waldorf in BA had the Euro-style plug-ins, so maybe it's only this hostel that's odd? The Dutch guy staying in my room absolutely REEKS - he's wearing the same clothes as yesterday, and his towel is absolutely disgusting. Even when he's not ...
Buenos Aires, Argentina pwong... just get a feel for other parts of BA. We ended up at a bustling little boat terminal and got on this great old wooden ferry-type boat which took us on a cruise through the maze-like rivers that eventually form into the Rio da la Plata which flows out into the Atlantic ocean. There was house after house after house of little vacation homes right on the river deltas and they all had docks and little beaches. The only way to reach them was ...
Buenos Aires, Argentina unbound... 29 to La Recoleta as advised by the vendors at San Telmo's market. Negotiating the bus service in Buenos Aires is quite a job in itself. Finding the street that it runs on then recognizing that exact change is a must all before actually starting the journey. Nonetheless, we managed to make it happen and after the generosity of 2 teenagers we were able to score the 2 pesos each that were required to board the bus. We hopped of the bus and found a quaint parilla (name ...
Buenos Aires, Capital Federal District, Argentina smylazar... in Recoleta. I was given a spacious studio apartment complete with kitchenette and dining table for six (!!) with a view of the pool. The owner of the B&B was right. There was electricity and water. I went for a short walk around the neighbourhood and the contrast with the old-world charm of San Telmo couldn't have been bigger. Recoleta is sophisticated and very polished. The brass door entrances to the posh apartment buildings (that are manned by guards in ...
