Alanya, Antalya, Turkey stephanberlinTwo nights in Silifke We stayed in the Lades Motel in Silifke which is the best place to stay for birdwatchers who want to sample the 320 species in the Goksu Delta, www.ladesmotel.com is the website. The guy who runs it, Nurullah Cinar (the "C" should be with one of those appendices hanging underneath), already for more than 30 years, is a pleasant chap, he knows his birds. Many organisations use his motel as a starting point or as a stop on birding trips. He ...
Alanya, Turkish Mediterranean Coast, Turkey robertandtanja... it would be the perfect place to spend the next three days. As it is it is chilly and overcast most of the time. The way our tour is set up we don't stay with the same group the whole time. We have bus tickets from point to point. Someone picks us up at the bus station and takes us to our hotel then a van picks us up and takes us on a tour. Then they take us back to our hotel and in the morning a van takes us to the bus station and we start over. But here, in Fethiye, we ...
Fethiye, Turkey yoniAfter all the rock formations we had seen it was time to head back to the coast for some sea and sand. So it was off to a place on the water called Kizkalesi. Firstly we headed along the beach and found an absolute bargain place right on the beach with a perfect view of Maiden's Castle out in the middle of the water. We spent 2 nights here sunbaking, drinking, eating and ...
Alanya, Antalya, Turkey kazanddamo... some of them have numerous connected arches intact, even after millennia. Eventually I wound up all the way up at the Oymapinar reservoir, and looking down from near the dam there, I had a pretty good view of at least part of the river valley. After hanging around the reervoir for a while, it was time to head back down the valley and eventually wind up in Side, which boasts a seriously large amount ...
Side, Turkey danbirchall... open by the river. Ants and I chose the under the stars option and it was another relaxing evening playing with the puppies(tree house owners 4 fluffy wee things) and a couple of quiets after a scramble up the gorge. Yesterday was a drive day with only a short stop for lunch and a shop in Kos. We in Olympos now some more ruins and a relaxing day at the beach. Gotta fly so more latter Cy and Ants
Olympos, Turkey antsHi everyone - thıs blog wıll turn out funny as we're on a Turkısh keyboard. We arrived in Istanbul 28th Aprıl to spend a few days checking out the sites before heading off on our middle east tour. We stayed in the backpacker district in Sultanahmet which is pretty geared up for kiwis and aussies. The locals probably know more maori than the kiwis. Dıd a boat tour down the ...
Salcuk, Turkey ants... Turkish hotel owners when they say therell be hot water in the morning) : Never Trust A Tout (Turkish or Otherwise - Theyd sell their own mother to get u on the boat!). I wonder if there will be any more Turkish Travel Laws..... Oh I tell a lie - I did accomplish one thing of substance today - I managed to extend my car insurance - its been exactly a month in Turkey now so TIPO needed another fix. Theres an office in Antalya, as the biggest city on ...
Antalya, Turkey wadirunner... coast seems to be full of Germans. Dont know what if anything those preferences say about the national pyshce of each country.... Also had by far the most expensive cup of tea so far in Turkey at said waterfall - 3YTL -or about €1.60 - 3 times the average. In general I think this part of Turkey will be more expensive than the east and centre. But it wont be long before Im on ...
