... shots that were set alight, teaching Brazilians (who spoke no English) international drinking rules, smashing what turned out to be a Brazilian Policeman's drink, twice and meeting a guy who was adamant he was Rachel's future husband, a 6ft 6ish basketball player from Rio who spent the evening calling me his sister-in-law and has decided that the wedding will be in 2 years time and will have lots of Samba....... Had to get the old sock out to brew the morning coffee and supplement
from the local bakery before heading off to see the fort – had failed to read

... for! Luckily only 10 mins to wait for the Recife bus. Had
decided to alight at the airport given hideous traffic and took the metro into
town and back out again to the rodoviaria, stuck out in the wilds 17km to the
west of centre.

Had just under an hour until the 1pm to Natal, which was
supposed to take 4 hours – by 6pm still not there, so hopped off before the

... in Natal were incredibly relaxing. We had been going so strong through the first 2 weeks, that the back half became much more leisurely. Woke up when we wanted, ate when we wanted, napped when we wanted, swam and laid out by the pool with our books. It was pretty fantastic.
