Recently I visited the Tajima region in Hyogo Prefecture to see Tajima cattle, the breeding cattle of Kobe beef.
After reading some articles from abroad on Kobe beef, I felt motivated to clear up the myth that surrounds this famous and revered meat from Japan.
Or, it just may be that I wanted to see the Tajima cattle…
It took me about two-and-a-half hours by train and bus to reach the Ota cattle ranch. The train I took is called the "Matsukaze" express ...

Kobe, Kinki, Japan cubnelaine... eat and stopped to watch the dancers for a bit while we at.
Finally, even though we were all having a great time, decided we'd have to get moving if we were going to get to our hostel, by check-in ( which ended at 9pm ).
We had all planned to come back after checking in, but by the time we got settled we were all so tired we just decided to go to bed.
I will continue our Kansai adventure in the next post.

Kobe, Hyogo, Japan at777After seeing the doctor about my toe (big long story), we headed out to Dotomburi an area of osaka full of resturants (should make Carl happy) and shops. It probably was not a good idea with my toe but we wanted to make the most of our last day in Osaka. The next day we packed our bags and went for sushi for lunch (yes i finally got michelle to eat it ...
Osaka, Japan peteyrinWell, it's been a quiet few weeks here. Things are slowly getting back to what you may call normality. Obviously the events of the past couple of months are going to take considerably longer to fully sink in and be processed. It's been good to have had work to throw myself into. We have had quite a lot of new starters at my school and it's been really interesting helping them get settled. Definitely one of ...
Osaka, Japan andyh79x... you think. Just pastries with octopus parts inside. And it's not the tastiest thing I've ever eaten, either, but it beats out the tripe from the Hong Kong Train. ******* The Japanese are some of the most adorable people on the planet. In the train station on Wednesday, we entered the ticket office to buy a tourist day pass. On our walk to the counter (approximately 4 strides), we got a little Japanese speech from the ticket agent and at least 3 bows. Then, when we ...
Osaka, Japan tabonyhl... of a trip to Den Den Town, Osaka's electronic district. Anyone who knows me will know that I have no difficulty wasting large amounts of time with electronics, so this one trip was enough. I shant describe the trip in much detail, because the pictures I took will tell the same story but make it ...
Osaka, Japan scurvydom... up. The lift was good fun, it wasn't actually in of the building but attached on the outside, and glass, so you got a great view all the way up. A further escalator also not part of the main building took us the rest of the way. We took a few snaps and headed back down. After some internet checking, we had dinner and went to an arcade for a while. It was 11.30 by now so we headed back. There were a lot of drunk Japanese businessmen, no one ...
Osaka, Japan ashermj... t for him and he definitely made Japan more interesting and fun! There were many others, but we don't have all day do we!?! So, that's what I'll remember most about my time in Japan...the people. Anyway, I took the bus to Nagoya because my discount flight to Bali departed from there...unfortunately the flight isn't until 10 am tomorrow, so I just figured I'd get there, go to the airport and semi-sleep at the airport. NOPE! The ...
