The ship arrived in Lyon after lunch; we boarded a bus and toured around with a stop at one of the last family-owned silk scarf manufacturers. That was really impressive, and I don't even go for silk scarves! They use ~20-40 'screens' per design, they mix the paint with arabic gum so it's thick enough to stick to the silk but still thin enough to spread. At noon we headed out and walked south to a very new, modern and large shopping centre to check it out. Thomas found a fantastic toy store and bought himself some blow up boxing gloves (and had great fun beating up his dad )! Before we left we shopped at a "hypermarche", France's version of a Superstore.

... culture shocks so far: Everyone in this city is stylish. Everyone. If I wore sweatpants in public I'd stick out just as much as if I wore a chicken suit.
