The tour took us into sections of the city we had not seen before and another highlight was a perfectly preserved unearthed section of pre middle ages Barcelona which is inside the very old market building and includes a wealth of detailed historical information on signs as you walk around (above) the unearthed remains of these buildings.
We spent most of our time here at the most famous street in the city called La Rambla. It is a long stretch of cafés and tourist shops. So of course, we spent some time at a nice outdoor café for a bit, mostly because it was shady but also because it is a very European thing to do. He finished the seminola in the frying pan with onions and lots of butter, creating a couscous like dish that he topped with raisins. Despite the hectic ending, the meal was actually very good. I can add cleaning squid to my list of culinary lessons this trip. I'm sure Dmitriy will make the seminola again, though it's really just couscous, so I will cook the easier version next ...
... It was impressive to say the least. We walked the Ramblus from one end to the other before taking the subway back to our hotel. It was a good day but the weather is a bit on the cool side but just fine for hiking the miles we put on today. Probably the high light of the day was the Barcelona Cathedral, an immense building again from the 1300s'.
