Frantic Misfortune Turned to Fabulous Memories

A travel blog entry by dess_australia

Our first experience in Australia was a bit rocky. We missed our connecting flight from Sydney to Wagga by about 10 minutes! After about an hour of freaking out over where to stay and what to do, Quantas airline was kind enough to give us free accommodation. They granted us one free night at the Rydges hotel next to the airport along with $50 …

School Boy Errors in Sydney

A travel blog entry by surge08

I am starting this blog almost 7 months into our Australian trip so I will do my best to make everything as accurate as possible. My girlfriend and me arrived in Sydney airport after a 15 hour flight from Abu Dhabi on a Saturday afternoon which also happened to be Australia day. We had stayed the night in Abu Dhabi which broke up the journey from …

Extra time in Sydney

A travel blog entry by dullicksontour

Our original post new year plans had been to fly to Tasmania. I'm so glad we changed our minds and stayed on in Sydney as an extreme heat wave has spread across the country leading to Tasmania having its hottest day ever (41). Its resulted in major bush fires, some of which are still burning. Over 100 buildings were lost, major highways blocked and …

Sydney Harbor Bridge/Sydney Opera House and More!

A travel blog entry by cincy

Today the group had their breakfast buffet in the lobby of our hotel. We loaded our chartered bus, with Bryn our bus driver, for a city tour of Sydney.

The sites we visited included The Harbor Bridge, which for $200 one can climb up half the span. You are tethered to the railing and ascend it with approximately 14 other people. Ron has …

Travel Day to Sydney

Today we are leaving Hobart for our 10:40 a.m. flight on Quantas to Sydney, Australia

Sydney is the capital of New South Wales. It is the third largest city in population after Oslo, and Tokyo. I have never seen a larger city, with people of all nationalities (especially Asians) walking in this city.

The cost of living is high …

    Great Hotel

The room was so updated with a beautiful view! The hotel provided anything you could possibly desire at the personal mini bar area in each room. The Sports Bar connected to the hotel had friendly servers and really satisfying food.

Ended up getting a late book in offer for this hotel and it didn't disappoint. Only downside was the wifi was expensive but other than that the hotel and the service was as good as you would expect from a hotel of that calibre.

    Nice - not 5-star

We had a nice stay and all the staff were friendly - just a couple of things that made me feel that it wasn't up to 5-star quality.

    A huge letdown

Extremely disappointing hotel masquerading as a 5 star. It is really lucky to even be considered as a 4 star.

    Sydney's best kept secret hotel!

We stayed here for 5 days during our honeymoon back when it was the Avillion Hotel and we loved every minute of it. The hotel was immaculate, the rooms were well-appointed with the cleanest bedsheets and duvet ever! We had a room on a high floor with a private but sunlit view.

Good hotel, good location, but not 5 star

Nice hotel but would not call it a five star hotel as advertised. Stayed in an executive room and had access to the executive lounge but its not all cracked out to be. Room size of executive is only a bit bigger than standard room which I have stayed in before. Reception staff one day were very poor and forgetful, next day reception staff were great. Location is tops with close access to Darling Harbour and City's main centre.

Stay was good, not the best in Sydney

My boyfriend and I stayed at Rydges on Saturday 14th April. We have stayed in several hotels in the Sydney CBD and this hotel was in the middle of our list. The overall appearance of the hotel is clean, comtemporary and simple. We stayed in a standard room, king bed, bathroom with bath and shower, t.v., and mini bar.

    Good quality Sydney hotel

Needed a hotel in Sydney tonight and after searching a bit on the web, found the Avillion ... sorry, Rydges WOrld Square hotel (the receptionist told me that they own it now) ... through the Rydges website.
