    Great Hotel

The room was so updated with a beautiful view! The hotel provided anything you could possibly desire at the personal mini bar area in each room. The Sports Bar connected to the hotel had friendly servers and really satisfying food.

Ended up getting a late book in offer for this hotel and it didn't disappoint. Only downside was the wifi was expensive but other than that the hotel and the service was as good as you would expect from a hotel of that calibre.

    Nice - not 5-star

    from

We had a nice stay and all the staff were friendly - just a couple of things that made me feel that it wasn't up to 5-star quality.

Our hotel room was supposed to be a delux king room - which we thought would be great until I realised that our "delux king size bed" was actually two singles pushed together!! Not exactly what we were hoping for.

Then we had room service arranged for the morning which I was really excited about because I'd never treated myself to room service before - and when the food arrived it was cold and there was not much of it.

There was no cd/dvd player for us to listen to music which I would have thought would be standard in 5-star accommodation.

And finally - we asked for late check out - which we were very happy to be granted - but then the Mini-bar made walked in at 11am(normal checkout time) while we were still in bed - I would have thought that they would have been informed of those with late checkout.

So all in all - a little disappointed - glad that we got a good deal from the web and didn't pay for the 5-star accommodation we were promised and, I feel, didn't receive.

Thank you for taking the time to place your thoughts on Trip Advisor. Feedback to the hotel is very important and greatly appreciated. This is where the hotel becomes aware of issues which would not necessary come to our attention - thank you for your feedback.

First of all I must apologise if your stay was not what you expected. At Rydges World Square Sydney we strive to exceed our guest's expectations, and I apologise for any discomfort caused.

After reviewing your stay with us, you were placed in a room with a "Twin Zip" bed, which most hotels use these days to convert a king bed into two king single beds if required. The bed manufacturers confirm that the only difference to these beds is that they have two bases, and that there is an additional pillow top mattress that is positioned on top. Although it is extremely rare for someone to feel the difference between the two - I apologise if this created an unpleasant night's sleep.

I understand your disappointment with our food and beverage and mini-bar team on your stay. May I say that at present we are currently reviewing the procedures and policies in place to make sure this is not a recurring experience. Once again I thank you for your feedback.

If you have any queries in regards to the above, please do not hesitate to contact me. I would be more than happy to discuss any matter with you personally.

    Kind Regards

    A huge letdown

    from

Extremely disappointing hotel masquerading as a 5 star. It is really lucky to even be considered as a 4 star.

The staff are pleasant however the hotel feels as if it has no soul. It is full of group tourists and in a very unsafe part of Sydney CBD.

My room looked nothing like the website and the carpet leading to the rooms looks as if it has never been cleaned. Whilst I admit the prices are okay, there are much better bargains to be found in Sydney.

The restaurant staff are lovely, however once again there is no warmth or character to this restaurant. I would not stay again.

Thank you for choosing Rydges World Square for your recent stay in Sydney and for placing your comments on-line. It is a great opportunity for me to tell you about some of the exciting changes the hotel is making.

Although the hotel is AAA rated 5-star, we have actively gone out to the public, marketing the hotel at a 4.5-star product. With this, I apologise if there was any mis-communication or discomfort caused in the process of choosing hotels.

It was great to hear that you found our staff lovely, especially in the restaurant. It is something that the hotel prides itself on, and it is great that it is noticed. I have passed your comments on to the team, congratulating them on a job well done.

After acquiring the hotel in March this year, Rydges has noticed some necessary improvements in both room and public areas that are starting to happen. The hotel is placing new flat screen TV's in all rooms, the restaurant and bar will be updated with a new breakfast concept, and the hotels new additions - two new conference rooms.

Thank you for your feedback - it is always greatly appreciated.

    Sydney's best kept secret hotel!

    from

We stayed here for 5 days during our honeymoon back when it was the Avillion Hotel and we loved every minute of it. The hotel was immaculate, the rooms were well-appointed with the cleanest bedsheets and duvet ever! We had a room on a high floor with a private but sunlit view.

The hotel was the perfect as a base for exploring all Sydney has to offer and also a great place to come back to. The bathroom had a separate shower and soaking tub, so it was nice to come back to after a long walk by the Opera House, the Queen Victoria Building, etc.

The only drawback was paying for in-room wireless internet use, but that's a small price to pay for wonderful location/staff/room. Highly recommended!

Thank you for writing such a glowing review!

Although you stayed with us a while ago, it is great to know that you remember all the finer points of the hotel, even down to our bed sheets! It was a pleasure to make your honeymoon even more memorable and was great to hear that you enjoyed you stay with us. We do hope to welcome you back soon.

Maybe on your 3rd wedding anniversary?

Good hotel, good location, but not 5 star

    from

Nice hotel but would not call it a five star hotel as advertised. Stayed in an executive room and had access to the executive lounge but its not all cracked out to be. Room size of executive is only a bit bigger than standard room which I have stayed in before. Reception staff one day were very poor and forgetful, next day reception staff were great. Location is tops with close access to Darling Harbour and City's main centre.

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with Rydges World Square Sydney. It was pleasing to hear your complimentary comments regarding the location of the hotel and the hotel amenities provided. Please be assured that your comments have been relayed to both management and team.

Please accept my apologies for any discomfort or inconvenience in regards to the reception staff's level of service. I would like to ensure you that your comments in regards to this have been passed along to our Front Office Manager and are currently being looked into with the staff that were on that day.

It is through the observations of our guests that we become aware of issues that would go unnoticed and therefore uncorrected. Once again, thank you for your comments, guest feedback is important to us and very much appreciated.

Thank you once again and we look forward to welcoming you back to Rydges World Square Sydney.

Stay was good, not the best in Sydney

    from

My boyfriend and I stayed at Rydges on Saturday 14th April. We have stayed in several hotels in the Sydney CBD and this hotel was in the middle of our list. The overall appearance of the hotel is clean, comtemporary and simple. We stayed in a standard room, king bed, bathroom with bath and shower, t.v., and mini bar.

The room was of an adequate size and the bed was clean with good bedding.

Checking in was very simple and easy. We had full buffet breakfast included in our price and on sunday morning it was a bit busy as the breakfast area is not very big. There is an adequate range of breakfast available.

The location of the hotel is close to 2 train stations and the hotel is situated very close to George street which is a busy part of the city. You can walk to Darling Harbour from the hotel, Circular Quay (the site of the Opera House and Harbour bridge) is a short train or bus ride away.

It was great to hear that you enjoyed your time at Rydges World Square and that all your requirements where met during your stay.

We do hope we can welcome both you and your boyfriend back to Rydges World Square for another romantic getaway!

    Good quality Sydney hotel

    from

Needed a hotel in Sydney tonight and after searching a bit on the web, found the Avillion ... sorry, Rydges WOrld Square hotel (the receptionist told me that they own it now) ... through the Rydges website.

The room is pretty well sized, very clean and for a city hotel is actually nice and quiet.

Got a pretty good rate on the website as well. So for a city property I can't really complain. It's close to Darling Harbour (where I just had dinner) too and the monorail goes right past it - a bit touristy but kind of fun if you haven't ridden it before.

Would recommend to others looking for a centrally located, well priced quality hotel. But book on the Rydges website, it's cheaper.

Thank you for taking the time to place your complimentary comments on Trip Advisor. It was great to hear that you enjoyed your stay and that the location was close and handy.

We look forward to welcoming you back to Rydges World Square Sydney.

Over the three years that Geoff lived in NSW, we would visit Sydney on some of my weekends up there. This city is fast paced, hustle and bustle with lots of people walking through the main CBD area, George St and Chinatown. Darling harbour on the weekends is often a great lively atmosphere with some fantastic restaurants (such as Hurricanes) and …

An overcast day, still quite chilly. As we were up early, we made the most of our last day in the Blue Mountains and drove to the Grand Canyon area, where we walked to a lookout over the canyon. The views were again quite amazing, with the cloud hovering on the adjacent hills and the rainforest spread out in the valley below. Very peaceful, …

Our first experience in Australia was a bit rocky. We missed our connecting flight from Sydney to Wagga by about 10 minutes! After about an hour of freaking out over where to stay and what to do, Quantas airline was kind enough to give us free accommodation. They granted us one free night at the Rydges hotel next to the airport along with $50 …
