Got up at ten and had a lovely breakfast of croissants, fruit and yoghurt. Chris and Kim had stayed overnight so we got to spend a bit more time with them. After they left we headed off and caught the "clipper" up the Thames and into central London. On the way, we saw so many famous sights such as Tower Bridge, Tower of London, Big Ben. After we got off the ferry we caught the underground on the Circle Line ...

... as a 'dolls house' this lovely mansion was built for Henrietta Howard, George II's mistress, in 1723 for the princely sum of £11,500. It's now just a half mile walk to Ham House where we plan to make a short visit. It's interesting that our English Heritage guide book makes no mention of it at all - presumably because it is owned by the National Trust? It's a shame as it's well worth a visit. It was built in 1610 and little has changed since that time. Originally owned by ...

Our little car, not the most spacious or comfortable, was supremely economical and reliable. But, the time had come and we definitely made sure it worked for its money! Our last 3 days were spent in London. We were blessed to ...

Well today was a self indulgent one....one where all cricket tragics long to go and experience the home of cricket, Lord's! On again, we hop onto the metro and navigate our way to St. John's Wood then make the short walk to the ground. There is only one tour on today as there is a county cricket match in progress, Middlesex v Northamptonshire. We are met by our guide, Michael, and he was thoroughly entertaining. He took us around the ground, through the museum, into the media centre, ...
