We left our hotel at around 9am and are now in Luoyang Longmen station waiting for our train to depart for Beijing - a city of almost 24 million! Another smooth train ride courtesy of CHR, and we arrived a few munutes ahead of schedule. We were looking for the rail link connecting the stations in Beijing (which we found online), but only found the …

Fri night saw Dave & Kirsten arrive so it was off to plan the weekend activities. Thanks to schedule changes I have Sat & Sun off, which works perfectly for their visit.

Today we have visited the Longmen Grottoes at Luoyang, which is 1 1/2 hr ride into Henan province on the bullet train. We got up to a maximum speed of 303 km/h, though most of the time it was in the 270-290's.

... though so I picked up a few things there.
Then, I spent the afternoon at the coffee shop talking to Morgan and Ginger. I saw on the news today, that Beijing was having it's worst pollution day ever. It is pretty bad here so it must be that way all over China at the moment. I think the cold air traps everything down just like it does at home. At least they are calling it pollution now and not fog. The locals here don't say ...
