Well today started with me getting my hair done by a lovely male Spanish hairdresser. I knew this would have to happen whilst I was away and if you know me well you would know I am very particular about who does my hair so random had better do a great job. When making the booking we a sight language barrier but overall we understood each other. He …
First thing, G back update. So a little sore around the ribs and in middle back but with some ibuprofen and a bit of suck it up he's all good. The bed we have in this hotel is not helping as it is like sleeping on a board with a sheet. So the day starts with a lovely hotel breakfast and great coffee. Finally the coffee is worthy of drinking and …
So before we get into today's events it is critical to do the top 5 of Paris 1. The Eiffel Tower of course. I didn't realise how big it was and now understand why it is such an important land mark of Paris. It was so impressive the first time I saw it and went up to the Sommet to see a 360 degree view of the city was so impressive. Then to see it …
Breakfast was wonderful, and included with the room. Our hotel is VERY centrally located, we're just around the corner from a few major Gaudi homes. Christopher is in heaven. The architecture of Barcelona is charming and quite unique.
Our first excursion was to see the city via the tourist bus. So, we braved the heat, sat in the open air …
... address. I just hope there is not another penalty for that as I already paid $116 for the Express Mail shipment to get from Highland, CA to Spain plus the price of the product, etc.

Hotel Services in Spain are not like in the States, open during the day all day. Instead they are often only open 9 am to 1 pm and 4 pm to 7 pm or 8 pm. So of course when I treked out to the Hotel ...

Perfect hotel for short break.
We have just returned from an Easter break to Barcelona, staying at the Avenida Palace Hotel. This is a great hotel in a perfect central location - a few minutes walk from Las Ramblas. We had requested a front facing room and were offered a wonderful room, complete with large terrace with views over the city. The staff were very friendly and attentive and the buffet breakfast was superb! This hotel is certainly worth its four stars - we would definitely stay here again.
Everything you want from a hotel.
polite helpful service nice room perfect location and a great breakfast
The Avenida Palace is a great hotel. The location was superb, about two minutes walk from La Ramblas and surrounded by good shops and bars.
Great hotel great location great city!
The location is perfect with metro station right in front of hotel and Plaza Catalunya 3 minutes walk, while quiet and safe at night. Pay extra for front facing rooms as traffic noise is no problem due to double glazing. Breakfast was good and staff courteous but not intrusive. Rooms were kept spotless and sheets and towels changed daily. We would definatly stay here again. Christmas here was great and seemed far less commercial and TV orientated than at home.Christmas day was just hoards of families out promenading in the parks and marina area enjoying the warm winter sunshine. What bliss and what a wonderful city. We WILL be back.
Nice place good location
i went to spain in feb 2003. this is very nice hotel. good breakfast.
great location. i would go back
Perfect location and good quality
The location can't be beat: in the new town but very close to Las Ramblas and all the action. The rooms are OK for the price, but the interior (quiet) rooms tend to be small and dark. But they have all the modern amenities and who spends time in their room in Barcelona?
The hotel entrance is quite impressive as is the foyer, but im afraid it really ends there. The suite that i asked for was small and a bit on the shabby side. The staff were ok but having read some of the other reviews,a particular concierge did have a tendency to look at you as if you had just crawled out from under a stone. The location of the hotel is very good, however for the money you pay im sure there are better hotels..Personaly i wouldnt stay there again although my seven year old did ehjoy the revolving door. My husband surprised me with a two week trip of my dreams during the year of our 20th anniversary, in 1998. It consisted of a European Cruise for 1 week and 1 week in Spain (4 nights in Barcelona, 3 in Sitges)
Avenida Palace is in a perfect location and the free breakfast is great. However, we had a written conformation of a large room & bed w/ a city view. Our room was an interior room and was slightly larger than my 1 car garage. I had to turn sideways to walk between the desk & the table at the foot of the bed. The "window" faced a room 25 feet across an opening in the center of the building. We could not even judge the weather through this window. We showed the front desk our confirmation. The clerk pulled out their fee schedule and told us that, "We were lucky to have the room that we had," and that, "Our room was heaven and we would die if we saw the other ones. She also said that the city views (the best rooms) only have twin beds. That seems unlikely to me. The building looks great with its old Euro decor & architecture, but we heard every sound above, below and around us made by other guests. Also, there was the ever present scent of cigarette smoke wafting through the vents. There are so many nice hotels in that immediate area. Keep searching and pay for your own breakfast.
Great hotel. I would stay thereagain in the heart beat. Excellent breakfast, nice rooms, large bathroom and perfect location.
