Breakfast was wonderful, and included with the room. Our hotel is VERY centrally located, we're just around the corner from a few major Gaudi homes. Christopher is in heaven. The architecture of Barcelona is charming and quite unique.
Our first excursion was to see the city via the tourist bus. So, we braved the heat, sat in the open air …
... to sit in her seat at the window she also didnt speak English... of course the whole plane was packed and people were waiting behind us so the nice person that i am (or started to be) started to go to the window seat as the old nun got out and backed away in the aisle "nicely" letting us (twice her size) squeeze into the tiniest seats, midway in I freaked out NO, NO SINISA I AM NOT NOT SITTING THERE I AM SITTING IN MY SEAT. hes shocked because I am basically ...
... nude. We managed to get used to seeing this about 3 beaches later. Traveling tips learned at this point: 1. Bargaining is allowed if not encouraged when shopping for souvenirs along La Rambla. The trick is to ask for the price, and then walk out of the store, at which point they will chase you and offer a lower price. Repeat as many times as you want. 2. Everything is closed on Sundays - plan on making your meals or checking beforehand if restaurants are open. 3. The ...
Howdy! I have spent the last 4 nights in beautiful Barcelona! What an amazing city, my favourite so far! Although Italy was awesome, I have to say I was happy to leave and put that week behind me. I have been getting my fix of PB J that is for sure. I've also had more icecream than I can handle! It is EVERYWHERE!!!!!! I can't help myself... Leah and I stop to look at most shops/stands that we come across. Mmmmmmmmmm Once again I am having to deal with sleeping in a room with ...
... tooth pick used to hold each tapas together are counted to arrive at the amount for your bill. This is such a great way to try the different types of tapas with no real intimidation. Some of my favorites: the roasted red pepper stuffed with sardines, mayo and seasoning, and the soft cheese with a slice of pineapple. You can wash your tapas down with a 1-2 euro beer or wine. Beer is literally cheaper than water in many restaurants.

Historical Traveler Reviews Husa Avenida Palace Barcelona
Perfect hotel for short break.
We have just returned from an Easter break to Barcelona, staying at the Avenida Palace Hotel. This is a great hotel in a perfect central location - a few minutes walk from Las Ramblas. We had requested a front facing room and were offered a wonderful room, complete with large terrace with views over the city. The staff were very friendly and attentive and the buffet breakfast was superb! This hotel is certainly worth its four stars - we would definitely stay here again.
Everything you want from a hotel.
polite helpful service nice room perfect location and a great breakfast
The Avenida Palace is a great hotel. The location was superb, about two minutes walk from La Ramblas and surrounded by good shops and bars.
Great hotel great location great city!
The location is perfect with metro station right in front of hotel and Plaza Catalunya 3 minutes walk, while quiet and safe at night. Pay extra for front facing rooms as traffic noise is no problem due to double glazing. Breakfast was good and staff courteous but not intrusive. Rooms were kept spotless and sheets and towels changed daily. We would definatly stay here again. Christmas here was great and seemed far less commercial and TV orientated than at home.Christmas day was just hoards of families out promenading in the parks and marina area enjoying the warm winter sunshine. What bliss and what a wonderful city. We WILL be back.
Nice place good location
i went to spain in feb 2003. this is very nice hotel. good breakfast.
great location. i would go back
Perfect location and good quality
The location can't be beat: in the new town but very close to Las Ramblas and all the action. The rooms are OK for the price, but the interior (quiet) rooms tend to be small and dark. But they have all the modern amenities and who spends time in their room in Barcelona?
The hotel entrance is quite impressive as is the foyer, but im afraid it really ends there. The suite that i asked for was small and a bit on the shabby side. The staff were ok but having read some of the other reviews,a particular concierge did have a tendency to look at you as if you had just crawled out from under a stone. The location of the hotel is very good, however for the money you pay im sure there are better hotels..Personaly i wouldnt stay there again although my seven year old did ehjoy the revolving door. My husband surprised me with a two week trip of my dreams during the year of our 20th anniversary, in 1998. It consisted of a European Cruise for 1 week and 1 week in Spain (4 nights in Barcelona, 3 in Sitges)
Avenida Palace is in a perfect location and the free breakfast is great. However, we had a written conformation of a large room & bed w/ a city view. Our room was an interior room and was slightly larger than my 1 car garage. I had to turn sideways to walk between the desk & the table at the foot of the bed. The "window" faced a room 25 feet across an opening in the center of the building. We could not even judge the weather through this window. We showed the front desk our confirmation. The clerk pulled out their fee schedule and told us that, "We were lucky to have the room that we had," and that, "Our room was heaven and we would die if we saw the other ones. She also said that the city views (the best rooms) only have twin beds. That seems unlikely to me. The building looks great with its old Euro decor & architecture, but we heard every sound above, below and around us made by other guests. Also, there was the ever present scent of cigarette smoke wafting through the vents. There are so many nice hotels in that immediate area. Keep searching and pay for your own breakfast.
Great hotel. I would stay thereagain in the heart beat. Excellent breakfast, nice rooms, large bathroom and perfect location.
