We started the day first getting soaked to the skin, then getting sunburnt watching the baseball. The weather is crazy. Hard to imagine that back home it is 40 degrees C plus! The baseball game was good for Alex, bad for Mark..... The Nationals won 9-3, getting 2 home runs in the first inning; the Giants got hardly any hits..... After the game we headed back to the hotel ...

... bubbles out in the summer sunshine? If we ran through a sprinkler? If we colored in a coloring book?

All day today, as I've gone about my work, I keep thinking about my partially colored tree. I wonder if tonight I will finish it, or if I should instead start on a colorful border for it. And each time I think of my tree, that sensation of peaceful joy comes over me again. I cannot wait for my "coloring time" tonight.

... at some memorials. It was surprising how many people and tours were at the monuments at night. Anyway a good night out. Back at accommodation by 11pm.

Sunday 22/3 - Received lots of birthday greetings via text and facebook. Headed back to hop-on hop-off and around to Jefferson memorial. From there we walked to Roosevelt memorial and Martin Luther King Memorial then back on bus and over to Arlington Cemetery. Found JFK's ...

... was blowing, but we powered ahead and watched the sun set over the Mall from the Lincoln Memorial. Magic.

We made our way to the AKA White House. A sister hotel to our hotel in NYC. Another beautiful hotel.

We had dinner at the Equinox. Some yum spaghetti with white truffle, venison, oysters and exquisite desserts. Yum.
