... about the main temple in Vientiane say it&#8217;s a really worthwhile trip. It&#8217;s in the city, a 20-minute moped ride away but we both found it really disappointing. It was hugely impressive from a distance but once you paid the small entrance fee and got inside the walls it was in such a poor state of repair it felt really soulless. As it's Saturday there were loads of local kids having fun....<br>Vientaine is a lovely city... considering it's the capital, it's small, relaxed.... still has a bit of a French feel after being owned by the French so many years ago... so the croissants are to die for! The bamboo bars at the riverside made it for me.... although it looks like they are clearing a lot of them so I hope they don't just build a load of posh hotels on that prime land....<br ...

Got into Vientiane this morning. Managed to find a dor for $5 a nigh wich isn't too bad. The pace has hot water!!! The first time I've had hot water since Siem reap!!
