Greetings,
We are on our way home. Our presentation went very well, the timing was impecable! There were question about our publications and much interest, both Jude and I were pleased. After our presentation at the University of Verona, we arranged for a cab to take us the airport. When the taxi arrived, I queried if there was only one airport and the driver responded ...
... was still and calm. The dying of the light. All the cars had a cosy blanket on their roofs. Later we had even more snow and the Severn Bridge had to be closed because of huge plates of ice crashing down onto car windscreens and breaking them. Auto-snowball on plant pot.
London, England, United Kingdom gabriel29... outside these venues. Nashville, whilst not having numerous bums had one or two who liked to introduce themselves to you and then wait around to collect their dollar. One such gentleman called Mike gave me directions to my hostel but left empty handed. It is a sad state of affairs when a traveller can't enter a new town without being harassed by people demanding money from you. And anyway why would you want to ask a traveller with a beaten ...
London, England, United Kingdom wolfieboy69If a thousand mile journey starts one step at a time then a forty thousand mile journey starts with a bloody long flight! Happily, Singapore Airlines new A380 Super Jumbo was an experience in itself and definitely the best economy seat I have ever sat in. The food was excellent, service impeccable and entertainment system bountiful. The flight highlight was watching The Mighty Boosh episode " The Crack Fox ...
London, England, United Kingdom lekka... hype from the dj's, they bring 3 men onto the stage, who - very tongue in cheek, do the most ridiculous dance routine for us all to join in with - we all did it and there was much laughter all round - everyone was in really high spirits - it was great!! Following that, a proper warm up person came on where all the runners did their stretches etc. As I said on my fund raising website, I did intend to run some of it, but I knew it wouldn't be much - so when ...
St Albans, England, United Kingdom travelmonsterHello From London!!! Yes we made it here safe and sound. The flight over was LONG!!!!! I got a little sleep, poor Al didn't. He sat and watched movies pretty much the whole way over. They fed us really well on the plane, felt like we ate a whole trip. It was pretty ************* the way to Dubai. My back held up OK, started to play up about 10hours into the flight. Popped some Herron and was OK ...
London, England, United Kingdom melan... Several times I passed narrow alleys which I would ignored or even avoided except there would be live music or delicious smells (really) drifting down them so I started exporing down them. Boy did I get really lost at this point. Fortunately its a small town. St. Albans Catherdral was definately a high point. The building itself is impressive with a history going back nearly 1,000 years. Tucked behind it was a park and what I really like...instead ...
St Albans, United Kingdom knave... itself but at least they do not rush you through the gardens and smaller chapels. Then a few blocks over to the war rooms and the Churchill museum. Obviously much more recent history and an amazing glimpse of how London persevered through WW2. Then off to meet our daughter at her school and spend a few hours at the British Library... OK, Diane wrote about the Beatle's, but they also had notebooks from DaVinci and Newton; and ...

London, United Kingdom leonardcamperWell, we have quit our respective jobs and are ready to begin our travels. I have managed to let my flat so we need to pack up everything and put it into storage, which turns out to be expensive. We are going to store it in Wembley, which is a bit random, but it turns out to be the cheapest place in London, and since we do not need access to it, should be fine.
