... the wrong way on dual carriageways, taking short cuts to side roads. Everyone drives in the outside lane (the lane with fewer bumps) so they overtake on either side, if you have your nose in front then you assume right of way.
Horns are sounded to say you are overtaking or want to overtake or don’t want to be overtaken or anything – you can get deafened on Indian roads.

Getting off!

... on the insurance side. Mind you this rental had a highly restrictive driving range of within the QLD main regions. Never mind, you never can drive out much further on a 7 day holiday at an RCI resort!!

Deliberately left the Gold coast to Sydney travel leg open, hoping to strike a 1$ deal with one of the rental company/portal wanting to get their vehicles back to Sydney. Options were with standby rental / Apollo camper van / Redsport car rental / space ship / bartrak

Day 150: Sitar and The Art of Living

... in my journal about the first lesson: "I had my first sitar lesson! It was so great, but also really hard. It's hard to push down the strings, they are really thick and hurt my fingers; it was so great to be learning something that I was actually interested in. The sitar has something like 15 strings, and they are at different levels, it's really complicated. But my teacher was just perfect. He and old Sikh man, and very serious about music ...

New Delhi- continued

... walked back to the car to go back to home base an old begger women holding a baby followed us and tapped on the windows as we were trying to leave. She kept on putting her hands to her mouth, wanting food. We are told not to look and just ignore beggers, but I will never forget this women's face. I can only imagine what her life may be like. When we got back we rested for a couple of hours and then the home base team took all the volunteers to a festival ...

... mall where we ate at... This was the extent of my seeing Delhi. Which brings me to R: How will she react when M tells her what we've done. Despite my principle: No man gets left behind or left out, the fact we're taking this new tour will screw R because it doesn't leave her with any option but ... 1) to pay money in order to join us OR 2) be ...

India: A big freak circus show & Dubai

... up eating by candlelight. Not so great when you're in your hotel room and the power cuts out your air conditioning, because it is bloody hot in India. I awoke in the morning to hear very loud music coming from the street. There was some sort of festival going on with a parade. There were floats and elephants coming down the street done up in makeup like at the circus and people riding on them. It's not uncommon to see elephants, camels ...

India

... buffalo, goats, pigs, and many working camels. Most of the camels were pulling carts full of crops or supplies. I even saw a few monkeys running around. I took a first class train today. After three nights in Delhi, I felt it was appropriate. Breakfast and drinks were served during the 5 hour ride. All for under $9. Not bad. I usually opt for second or third class, but it was in the mid 80's when I got up at 05:00, so a/c seemed like a good idea. More next week....................
