The history of Pompeii is think that the entire town came to a stop in minutes as the ash fell and folks were stopped in their tracks as they suffocated from the ash.
The homes and artifacts are in perfect condition and you get a real sense of the citizens of Pompeii and the life they led.

We were beat so we headed back to meet our driver. Guiseppi ...

... more classy!!! After a free taste of Lemoncello, we all piled onto the bus for the trip back to Naples to our boat. We noticed on the drive that Naples has a lot of poorer areas. There was one area that looked like Sowetto - homes made of corrugated iron but with satellite dishes on the roof which differentiated them from being a pile of rubbish. Needless to say we left satisfied with our efforts. ... about this land, and he had tons of knowledge. He didn't want us to "waste time" doing the "stupid tourist stuff"...he wanted us to see these cities from his perspective.

We covered Sorrento, Pompeii, Positano, Amalfi, Praiano, and Ravello. We went to the side of this mountain-top and hiked up steps for a lunch that you couldn't duplicate.

All you need to do is check the pictures...and amazing day!

    Tomorrow...outskirts of Rome!
