    After breakfast our guide for the day, Nikolai arrived. A lovely man in his forties he is a geography and geology teacher at the local high school. Although he comes from the flat country he has an obvious love and respect for the hills and it's peoples. He English was OK but he relied on Bata to translate some things.     The train arrived on time at Ivano-Frankivsk. Of the city I only saw it from the train and as with all cities the railway corridor is not the most picturesque. The station was just a series of tracks with platforms about 50cm high and getting from one side of the station to other was simply by looking both ways and crossing the tracks.     At the Chernivtsi train station, I found out that my midnight train was cancelled! I had to figure out an alternative form of transport to get to Ivano- Frankivsk. It was 8:30 PM.
