This was going to be first real test of travelling and boarder crossing, Europe had open up all its boarders so far but Ukraine was still very much an independent country. so it started with and early start to get to the boarder to give me more time for lays ahead. I have heard and read so many different stories about these crossings. It went ok and with out to much delay I was back on the road. Straight away ...

After breakfast our guide for the day, Nikolai arrived. A lovely man in his forties he is a geography and geology teacher at the local high school. Although he comes from the flat country he has an obvious love and respect for the hills and it's peoples. He English was OK but he relied on Bata to translate some things. The buildings around the adjoining bus station all that that look - is it decaying or was is simply not finished in the ...

The outside of Ivano-Frankivsk airport looks more like a small shopping center than an airport. But, there are no shops at the airport. The small waiting area of the airport is located in the center of a two-story atrium with a chandelier. That does not mean that the airport was luxurious in nature. In fact, I could have been in ...

... the hospital. Imagine being the object of such ridicule that a city-center fountain is created to celebrate the event!

Our hotel is in a beautiful location just outside the city center, on a lake with jogging and biking paths. I finally get the extended walk in nature that I have been hankering for all ...
