      ... and split off afterwards towards the Academia part of Venice - walking slowly home. So quiet away from the hotspots. Had rolls for lunch and shared a local quiche in a quiet square. Yummy.       ... this flat bottomed boat suited this type of lagoon....they were used for transporting everything, everywhere. They are not "punted" as I thought they were because the water is too deep; they are actually rowing boats, so they are rowed using one oar (not a pole).
