Taking it easy again today, catching up on postcards, journal and facebook updates of course! missing everyone at home, and miss mama eddie who is back in sunny pommyland [and whom i had an interesting chat with a slightly worse-for-wear shano about last nite!]
Looking forward to Prague which I hear is beautiful, but will be sad to lose a few more topdeckers there.

... are still in the north and onto our second Island. Weather is superb and all the masses of tourists have gone home - so great pace..something about island life.

We have been eating loads of seafood but Jarrad is yet to catch us a fish - on the list of things to do!

Anyway here are the pics of our antics once again.

Encore une fois, pas de chambre en dessous de 300 kunas...Une dame présente derrière le comptoir (retraitée de l'agence) nous propose une chambre située dans la maison de sa fille à 10 minutes à pied.

Great little place to relax, with plenty of beaches (topless, nude or otherwise), hiking, boating and more. Heavily touristed by northern Europeans, with lots and lots of skin on the beaches and boats, and a very interesting medieval town made for wandering tourists.

A short catamaran ferry ride and we landed in the town of Novalja on the nearby island of Pag but it is a world away from the quiet medieval Rab! Here the promenade was filled with tourist stalls one after the other; bars and restaurants blaring out their music, and all filled with people doing their best to consume the island's supply of alcohol. What a wonderful way to spend a day on an island. We walked for miles along and in the water, stopping often to admire the view and marvel at the colour of the water; found a local man to talk to about his little bit of paradise and a local ice cream parlour with thatched coverings and amazing views to enjoy our ice cream just out of the midday sun; the local park for a lunch picnic; and later an obligatory espresso at one of ...

... of Sveti Grgur, an island which had been a women’s prison. A bit of a theme to this tour? We chatted with someone from a liveaboard ship that was also touring the area and discovered how lucky we were with the weather as the last weeks had been awful. Long may this sunshine continue!

That evening, after supper, we got an ice cream cone to wander around eating and, to Annie’s delight, there was a delicious Granadilla ice cream for her to enjoy!

We stepped off the ferry into a medieval marvel. Beautiful old stone buildings right on the water's edge, plenty of boats offering to take us out to glorious looking beaches and islands and, best of all, the sun was shining brightly again!

... story short we headed for Jablanac
and on arriving found out that the ferry goes from there to Rab – a
little island just of the coast. As it looked sunny over there and it
couldn't really be any worse where we were we got a ticket and headed
over on the ferry. After a fair bit of searching we eventually found
a place to park the van and we then headed down to an isolated beach
where we ate sausages over a fire.

... nice hot sunny weather..something I haven't seen/felt for a long time! * Eating gelato everyday....yes and I mean EVERYDAY, sometimes even 2 a day..there was even one point where I ate two, one after another..and I was close to eating a gelato for breakfast, lunch and dinner * Easy to get around considering most locals could speak English * A place worth going for the beach/swimming, sightseeing and culture! Now I can't wait for my Greek Island hopping trip...
