... sells beer at half the price of the main drag (Stradun.) Fine for a couple of liveners early doors! A typical evening would continue at the Buzz Bar located on the exterior of the city walls, ideal for watching the sunset. Beer however seriously overpriced at 28kn for a small bottle. I would then eat at the restaurant Lokander Peskarija, situated within ...

... 45 bucks CAD. We grabbed some gelati to try to beat the heat. I got Pina Colada and Melon but David's Sour Apple, Liz's pisstachio, and Ania's Mango were all delicious. Reminds me of getting Gelati at Leo's in Winnipeg. Good times! ; )

We were able to climb the towers and walls around the city for 20 Kuna, making use of ISIC student discount from the regular 50 Kuna rate! Sweet! The views were magnificent! The old city is quite tiny but amazingly unique ...

"Best of the Adriatic"

... main harbor of Dubrovnik. This was taken from an overlook of the city after we left on our way to lunch. We traded photo taking with Don and Linda. This was our first look at grape vines in the Mediterranean. Some of the Roman Aqueducts found in the mountains. These two photos were taking from our bus. Which will explain some of the glare seen in ...

The best of Dubrovnik

Today was the day in Dubrovnik that we were probably not meant to have, given that we should have been on the ferry at 9am if only I had got the day right. Isn't it odd, though, how you always discover the best of a place at the end of your time there? That was true for us today. We found the best place to soak up the winter sun, the best restaurant, the best park and the best coffee shop all on our last day. First ...

Alliteration is annoying (oops!)

She says: Ahhhh Dubrovnik. I *hate* crowds (this is the girl that skipped the Sistine Chapel because the line was too long), but somehow I still loved Dubrovnik in high season. I arrived expecting to be disappointed - thinking it could not possibly live up to its reputation - but I was won over as soon as we walked through the Pile Gate at night. We did the usual touristy stuff: walked the city walls, went to the war photographers museum, etc. But the ...

... by our narrow escape. It poured and we enjoyed the lightshow and people watching from our balcony view. For Mark, being brought up in thunderstorm-free Victoria this was a treat. Well, internet is hard to find here in Europe, and it's very hard to get our photos on here as there is no software to resize them and load them quickly. Hopefully we can update these at some point before the end of the trip. Cheers, Mark & Allison.

Ah, the Sea Breeze finally!

... and our ten "come here right now" we had the pleasure to add twenty "put that turtle down" and "be nice to the turtles". The kitten had the distinct advantage of a better propulsion system and would just make a quick dash for the bushes to avoid the spastic small outstretched fingers. It was pure chaos when Collette found two baby turtles. They got the joy of being stacked on top of each other and put into buckets. We also added," Turtles don't like to be ...

... hand as we sat on the back porch drinking beers with our new Croatian mom, the rest of her family, and the neighbors. It had been a long afternoon of climbing and then descending stairs in search of accommodations with a couple from Brazil we met on the ferry. They had been together for 15 years before finally getting married, and they, too, were on their honeymoon. Rosa spoke virtually no English, and Mike was an expat from St. Louis that hadn't been back to the States ...

... key above for "Hvar," you will see why I got such a kick out of saying "Hvar Town" quickly). The weather was rainy at first, but eventually cleared to afford us great views in the seaside town. As with other great destinations, Hvar wasn't as much about seeing all the important sights as just soaking in the ambience and vistas. According to a poster in the tourism office, Hvar was voted one of the ten most beautiful islands in the world (other islands on the list included ...
