... only to discover that we
had run out of both beer and tonic (as in Gin and Tonic). How sad is that? Fortunately
there was a really nice warm local pub nearby and Jan very kindly offered to
treat us all to supper and drinks. The food and atmosphere was great and after
a good meal we headed back to camp for a well-deserved rest.

The morning dawned sunny and clear without wind. Amazing,
and how awesome to have such perfect weather to celebrate the wedding of my
niece Saskia to her husband to be Alexander Schoep. Stef and Jan headed into

A cold night and a warm bed is a perfect recipe for a good
night’s sleep. Apart from a couple of, what I think were Screech Owls having a
domestic in the early morning, we were awoken by the loud singing of birds at
the ridiculous hour of 8 o’clock.

After a hot cup of coffee we set off to find a shopping
center to find all the stuff that we had failed to buy the day before. ...

After a good German breakfast of bread, cheese and coffee we left Jan's Mum's flat and set out under Jan's guidance to find some essentials that we had forgotten to pack. These included bath towels, food, beer, gin, a gas cylinder fitting, a bicycle inner tube and a bicycle pump. The guide proved to be hopeless and apart from the food and beer we came away from Saarbrucken ...
