Had a late start to the day today and for a change instead of going down the hill we went up the mountain. Up to the site of an active volcano. It started to rain half way up so had to hire umbrellas so we could walk over to the edge. A couple of quick photos and we were off for lunch. The rain became quite heavy and ...

Alicia's Birthday

A traditional Indonesian breakfast was had by all this morning, only a phone call away according to Toni. I had Bubur Ayam (chicken Rice porridge) and the others had Nasi Goreng, very tasty. ... I have seen, I imagine. Not that his family is wealthy, but they are upper middle class. There were probably far more people living in a tiny home than lived in Halef's large house of 6 people. The contrast between this kind of slum/wealthier neighborhood is much different that I imagine the same situation would be in, say, Latin America or even in the USA. Halef's family has a locked fence and a handyman who works around the house, but he is no armed ...

Princess wants cake

A travel blog entry by toddmchenry on Jul 23, 2012

... a whole bunch of stuff :) it was great to have conversation with him. After everyone had come back from prayer at 8:00pm, I started having this premonition. "cake?" "what? Princess, what? You want cake?" everyone thought they Putri had mentioned to me that she wanted cake, so it was funny as I was the one that actually wanted cake :P So Mermaids sister drove us all to the local cafe to have delicious rainbow cake with ice coffee, before driving me home to rest for tomorrows ...
