... Hohenschwangau first and enter at 9:50, after our 35 min guided tour we had to make our way to Neuschwanstein - downhill and up a very steep hill - by 12:05 precisely. No photos allowed inside either castle. Hohenschwangau was the family holiday home and still contains the original furnishings. Quite lovely and we noticed the walls were painted with murals rather than having family portraits as in ...

... do a 2 hour cruise on Lake Forggensee. It was very pleasant and the autumn colours were quite beautiful. The castle remained blurred by fog and cloud but we could imagine what it would like like in finer weather (with some help from the travel brochure) On returning to shore Celeste and Peter opted to walk directly back to town while the rest of us enjoyed a walk along the river into the top end ...

... service. Suicide or assignation, no one knows. His legacy however is a spectacular castle on a hill in Souther Bavaria near the foothills of the Alps.

Oct 1st Dan and I woke up at 5am this morning so we could get on the road to Füssen early and hopefully be there for when the ticket office opens. I highly recommend reserving tickets if you want to see these castles so you don't need to stand in the crazy lines ups like we did. We tried but you need to do this months in advance ! Even with us on the road by 6 the roads were stupid busy and there was still a large line up before the ticket office opened. We managed to get the ...
