    ... the 8th century - WHOA!

While we didn't go into any of the museums (we spread these out so the kids don't get too bored with them), we did stop and enjoy a traditional treat called a schneeball (snowball) as we meandered back to the camper van. Imagine a crunch dough stuffed with milk chocolate and then dipped in it, too. We split it, and thank goodness we did or we would've been grossly stuffed ourselves! When we finished gorging ourselves, we made our ...

    ... tour and the castle!

Once we finished with his boyhood home, we headed up a very steep 30-minute hike to get to his fairytale castle, Neuschwanstein! This castle was the dream home of King Ludwig II, sometimes called Mad King Ludwig. He became king at 18 years of age and was ill-prepared for it. ...

... towns and an intricate design and architecture, it was a true beauty fit for the royal family. Unfortunately we could not take pictures inside, but a few key features included a pool table used by the king, a "hanky panky" door between the king and queen's chambers, hand engraved wooden thrones, and wall to wall murals which have withstood the test of time. Each room also featured an elaborate centerpiece given as birthday and wedding gifts ...

    Day Three in Fussen

A travel blog entry by erzetic on May 19, 2015

Today again starts with breakfast at 7.30am. Steve goes all the way today with two hard boiled eggs for breakfast. Steve is our driver for the day. We are off to visit the summer palace today. The drive tales us into Austria for a short time. We traveled past a magnificent lake and stopped for a daily shot. Unfortunately the weather is not so good today and there is light rain. Eventually make it to the summer palace. This is the smallest of the three ...
