... to split our journey and boarded a minibus for Swaziland, about 1/3 of the way to Durban. It was a miserable day (I think I cursed ourselves bragging about summer last time) and we had our bags getting wet in a trailer on the back - just as we were about to leave a lady near us started to shout and point to her bag. We're not exactly sure what happened but think she was accusing someone of ateling her purse ...
Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa lantfricaHere I am again with some pictures for you. I will be going to Umlazi on Wednesday to stay and will meet my Zulu friends. I cant wait to see my friend Precious who I met when she was 13 and now she is 18. Having a very good time, although the weather is very weird, really hot for days, then it goes cold.
Durban, South Africa dith31... to see so many girls there - either in groups or with a friend. Wonder if they're there for the game, players or mass of men game attracts. Got seats on the halfway line, unfortunately smack bang in the middle so there was no moving for beers or loo breaks. We got our butts walloped but it was great atmosphere besides from three hicks sitting in front of us who, the two times Brumbies scored a try, shouted go home and put your shackles on. They weren't ...
Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa oliveramber... B. a few memory cards for his camera so that he could take lots of pictures and just send me the SD disk. But, the camera had disappeared. Someone had stolen it. Such is life continually here! I am giving him my little Canon Sure Shot so he can take pictures. I always love photos from this area. Off to the airport. Back to Johannesburg and on to Durban where the ...
Durban, South Africa victorkubik... the Bible for answers to my questions and pray to God. I told them that I already had done both of those and felt as though I had the answers that I needed already. They reminded me about what the Bible says regarding homosexuality, and I told them that I felt as though the Bible was a living document and that I had to take into consideration the facts that: 1). the Bible was written ...
Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa rroesch... for the Casco-troop, lead by the more than able Reuben, with his own entirely unique retro-pogo-hip-hop-cutting-edge-styling ... and he'd only been drinking cola !! Good times indeed. There's too much to describe for this blog (especially as several belated entries are going to be posted simultaneously). Once the project was over John, Ali and I had to wait for their van to be fixed and Martin to join us from Joberg before we could head ...
Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa camo... just looking at me. I wasn't bothered... that was the best free beer I have had in long time. My short flight to Durban in business class was ok, but not as posh as I had expected. I managed to get only two free drinks and some cashews. During the South African Airways flight, I thought it was quite funny that they were playing that Canadian show "Just for Laughs- Gags". I told the woman beside me that it ...
Durban, South Africa robthebruce... to get public mini buses up and down about ten times a day. It makes me hate British public transport even more. We reached the border and passed through a pretty informal passport control and then continued up, and up... above the clouds and still we had not reached the top. Finally, at 2487m above sea level we spotted a little white building with customs and excise painted on the side; how very quaint. The views were absolutely breath-taking, I felt ...
Durban, South Africa tiffbrooke... again), went to a crocodile show and relaxed a lot by the pool! Not too tiring, felt good to sit back and relax.
After St Lucia we all headed down to Durban. I spent two nights there, whereas the guys are all still there so we've now separated. On the first night we went out to a local late bar. It was Sunday night, but the A1 Grand Prix had just finished in Durban, so town was pretty busy. It was nice to get out and back on the dance floor!
The ...
Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa vickicooper... quite nicely. In fact, while a lot of the houses still were guarded like Fort Knox, it just didn't seem to have that air of fear that Jo-Burg or Pretoria had. Since Kelly and I are really trying to stick to a budget, we are camping everywhere we go. This includes backpackers. Just so you know, a hostel in South Africa is called a Backpackers. For the most part, these have been very nice. Much nicer than any "hostel" that we encountered in South America. Anyway ...
