Leaving Kilkenny, we ventured south to the beautiful Port of Waterford, on the River Suir. A visit to the House of Waterford and a really interesting tour through the Crystal making factory left me with a greater appreciation of crystal. I'll never again make a negative comment about the cost of hand cut crystal... the process is not only labour intenstive, but the craftsmen must go through an 8 year ...

Music, medieval magic and more touring!
... tour that was about the medieval parts of town. The castle was last inhabited in the 1960's by the Butler family who then sold it to the city because "There are enough ruins in Ireland. We don't need another one," according to the last Mr. Butler to inhabit the castle. The city couldn't afford to restore it so the Office of Public Works took it under its wing and started to restore and each year they get a bit more done.
