... side of the road. The roundabouts do your head in a bit. All the French people we have met so far have been wonderful. Helpful and smiling and trying to help which is great. The countryside is delightful with tree lined roads and little villages snuggled into nooks and crannies and there is always the beautiful old church and graveyard to go with it. I am looking forward to exploring this country. The Beast is shaping up ...

... begin with. At pedestrian crossings I keep looking the wrong way before I cross and nearly get run over! The ride blew the cobwebs out and the bikes we have borrowed from Jane and Anton are little beauts. Tomorrow we head south a little bit towards Normandy. So far we are pleased with the Beast. ... were many student groups in the city. We then drove on into France to Abbeyville which is on the Somme River. It was. Pleasant drive through the fields of Flanders and northern France. The crops of cereal are about 400 mm high and the farmers are busy spraying. The country side is lush green. Had to repair the power board as we blew a fuse in the unit and are having trouble getting a ...

We also sneaked in a visit to Chateau Blois, which you don't visit for its gardens as it doesn't have any. This place is all about its history, architecture, interior design from many a different period. At one time it was virtually derelict and its rebuilding has been questioned as its been zealously bought back to life at just one perfect moment in time, so some history is lost and some renovation hides a further past. The private Royal chambers are ...
