Arrived in Toulon France this morning. What can you say about Toulon other than it's the home of large a French Naval base. When we were here three years ago the ship moored at the ferry terminal and you literally stepped off the boat and into the market. This ship is slightly larger so has to moor across the bay in Le Seyne-Sur-Mer. However, they do provide a free water taxi to take you across the bay to Toulon city, which ...

We were really sad to leave Ceret and the stunning Pyrenees behind but we were getting quite concerned about our dwindling wine stocks so we had to move on. Of course you could use the argument that ‘hey you’re in France, there’s wine everywhere’…..but no, we wanted the good stuff. ... have to be made quickly, at 120 kph with impatient wannabe Grandprix drivers on your tail flashing lights because we were below the 130 kph speed limit. Couple that to the fact that our credit card was not accepted at 2 booths, causing us hit the emergency button on at least 3 occasions. Although there are about 10 booths, we delayed a couple of drivers a couple of minutes, and were subjected to hand signals and shouts of "idiot". Gail handles this much better than I do. I think that ...

... the internet didn't work in the room.
Spent the following day walking in Cezanne's footsteps (self guided tour ) and linking that with the cities many fountains. Of course, all this walking required a stop at a cafe on Cours Mirabeau to sample the local strawberries and cream. Bliss.
Right place, right time: we were in Saint-Sauveur Cathedral and the organ was playing. The music was beautiful, and filled the ...
