We finally said goodbye to "our" boat this morning and spent a few hours hanging out playing in Branges as we waited for our taxi to Lyon. Amazing what you can do with things around you! Don't you love the little acorn folk? Weather along the boat trip has been awesome - quite lucky from what the locals have said. Food, locations and people just great - couldn't ask for ...

Le Boat Bon Voyage!

We arrived in Gray mid afternoon after travelling from Paris via Dijon and Dole. The Le Boat reception was graciously accommodating seeing as we were a tad early. We had a picnic lunch in the nearby park then did a bit of a shop to stock the boat then a lesson in skippering and boat etiquette (with a French lesson or two thrown in). A BBQ dinner prepared by Chef Clancy topped off a seamless travel day (train x2, car, then boat!). Our first day on Le Saône was pleasant even ...

We are getting very excited as we have four keen buyers for the Beast and they might end up fighting over it. At least we will sell it before we leave ...

Big rain storms again, no leaks - yay, the vaseline worked - and after the rain cleared we set of for a cruise up the Petite Soane, heading for Pontallier. We stopped for lunch at Lamarche Sur Soane, a small depressed village which happens to have a small riverside mooring where we had lunch on the boat next to 10 ...

... Eldon thought the zucchini had maple syrup in it. He loved it but isn't one to be crazy of maple syrup. The duck was delicious, some of the best we have ever had; it was cooked really nice.

We then had a bowl of sweet red fruits and a little cream for dessert. Our friend ordered us an after dinner drink that was really good but loaded with alcohol. We got to be around 9:30. I slept like a baby.
