... enjoyed the walk. In the afternoon we travelled back to S J de L and moored on the riverfront as before. We ate in the same restaurant as last time. ... after a spray bottle to spray oil when he's barbecuing but the French don't have aerosol cans of oil in the supermarkets so he knows a $2 shop here and so he and I go for a walk through the town to check it out and he finds what he is after. ... This one, 16th C. Gothic, has the highest steeple in Franche-Compté and dominates the town. Dole has lots of pharmacies and shops selling clothing but seemed I thought, surprisingly lacking in appealing little cafés and restaurants. And there was a lot of traffic zooming over the bridge over the canal into the centre of town.

We easily found the campsite just a short walk from town and decided to book one ...
