... and eye shades have never felt just that good.
Quotes:
'It is such a novelty making ones own bed...' Hols as we make our own beds using packs of sheets.
'At least I will die quick if you fall on me...' Jamie to Ed as he took the bottom bunk bed.
Onto Saturday and our Lux exploration...bri arrives hundover after a 4am dance session. We head off in the rain to the best hot chocolate in the world. Chunks of solid chocolate the size of ice ...
... to see Ashley and have Thanksgiving with her and her husband. Another one of my good friends, Jessica Cavazos's, younger sister happened to be in the area so she came out for the event as well. I'm not sure that her original plan included coming to Luxembourg (or Belgium which is the country that I'm actually in although I can see the border from the window) but when she arrived in Paris last week she immediately fell down a flight of stairs and broke ...
Luxembourg, Luxembourg torilusk... whatever happens. He was a paratrooper in his youth and had a very hardy, can-do approach to life. He’s now about 80 years of age. He told me with a bit of a laugh in his voice, that “if it comes to that, I feel good enough to die.” They’ll receive a visit again in March, and then probably in July. Mr. François is already planning his magic act for the talent show at the next Feast of Tabernacles. He told me it’s all prepared already.

... it slowly deteriorated. The final blow came in 1820 when William I of the Netherlands sold it to a local merchant who in turn sold off its contents and masonry piecemeal, reducing it to a ruin. There were several attempts at restoration but these were hampered by problems of ownership. Victor Hugo lived in the castle for three months in 1871.[3] Not until 1977, when Grand Duke Jean ceded the castle to the State, was it possible to undertake large-scale work, most of which has ...
Vianden, Diekirch, Luxembourg houghtalingGreetings from Luxembourg! We are both very excited to be here in a new country, and one of the smallest European countries! The keyboards here are wonky, so you may have some typos to contend with. We left Trier on Friday and took the very short train ride to Luxembourg City. This city is built around a deep gorge-like valley of the River Pétrusse. It was built as a fortified castle in the 10th century and many of the old walls and ramparts, including the tunnels inside of them, are ...
Vianden, Diekirch, Luxembourg wagonmaker... hours and hours wandering around our castle and the walls of our castle we decided it was time to head home. We took the crazy bus ride back to Eddleburg and took a time out for a Kebab (lamb meat in a pita shell with veggies and garlic sauce...AMAZING!). After Katie and I each ate an amazing Kebab, dare say the best one I have had yet, we rolled our full bodies into the train and headed back to Maastricht!
Vianden, Diekirch, Luxembourg abauerly... renovated farmhouse with high ceilings, wooden beams, amazing and unusual lights, stone walls and really romantic. The staff were very friendly and forgiving of my poor pronunciation and language efforts and the food was great. Our first challenge was working out what we were given for appetizers. There were some small tasty things and then these little cups with some sort of aniseed tasting thing with froth on top. We didn't know whether we were ...
Vianden, Luxembourg watchoutworldVIANDEN Today I went to the medieval town of Vianden in the mountainous areas of the Ardennes in Luxembourg. I actually decided to get a bit of a work-out/adventure by riding my host dad's old bicycle there (which I thought, at first would be a great idea) I trained to Diekirch then started my 30 km trek toward Vianden. The cool part about Luxembourg is that they have more pathed bike trails then they do actual ...
Vianden, Luxembourg pstan4th... small country, all the cartoons on TV and in the newspaper seemed to not have words, just gestures and sound. The weather was kind of grey, the food was good. We discovered Croque Monsieurs (like grilled cheese sandwiches with ham -delish!)
Luxembourg City, Luxembourg, Luxembourg lolly... Casemates - tunnels and chambers dug to further fortify Luxembourg city. Saw Notre Dame church and walked along the park at the bottom of the valley where we found an old church built into the side of the hill. Luxembourg is a beautiful medieval valley.
