On the road again, we are heading further south to La Rochelle in search of the elusive sunshine! According to Mandy’s ‘all the aires’ book there was a free aire in a car park only 10 minutes walk from the town centre with space for 24 motorhomes…..what could possibly go wrong!! Well firstly when we arrived just after midday all 24 places were taken and the huge car park was almost full with an overspill of other motorhomes and ...

A real seaside day. Morning mists as we rose after our wet previous evening to breakfast standing up before setting off along the coast. Morning coffee at Chatelaillon-Plage with local dancing in regional costume to accordions, hurdy gerdys, flutes; then on towards La Rochelle with lunch overlooking the sea as ...

As we got up at 7.30 we just about got away without torches. As light came we had packed up the trailer and panniers and we're sat at our picnic table for tea, muesli and toast with Vegemite and Sarah's home made apricot jam. Then we were off north bound to the ferry crossing to Royan - a rolling, pitching crossing, a bit chillier than our southbound crossing two weeks ago. After 60 some miles (we can't be more accurate as the mileometer stop working after lunches for a few miles) we ...

... up and get a bite to eat together, we travel together
when we have to attend meetings for all of the assistants in our
region, we share each other’s spaces and play board games or have a
little party and meet some new French people. One evening, Meredith
invited everyone over to her place, (she’s the one that lives with
the French family) and we got to meet some new people from the area.
We met her host brothers, ...

... br> I bought a ticket that day, not wanting
to miss out on the last cruise of the season. Now, of course you
could do this same cruise from Fourras or La Rochelle later into the
year, but leaving from the port in Rochefort seemed to be the easiest
option, since it’s just a 15 minute walk from where I live. I
arrived in France the Wednesday and Dana had arrived the Friday, ...
