... Hairpin and I understand it is soon to enter it's fourth incarnation as Fairmont Hairpin, after the hotel's current owners. Whatever. To me and most other people it's still called Loews, although the name is largely irrelevant. 'Most famous hairpin bend in the world' would be the most accurate tag.

... was the Monte Carlo. We put a little extra effort into getting ready swapping our hiking boots for flats and actually brushing my hair. All dolled up we caught a train in. ... and wasn't very nice, settled into some nice deck chairs with umbrellas (or parasols, I should say), along with our own attentive "Manuel". Well, we stuck out like sore thumbs.
