... side, and the town of Chamonix sprawled beneath us on the other side. The second Gondola ride was better as we positioned ourselves at the front of the Gondola and made sure both the boys could see out the windows.

When we arrived it was -10 degrees Celsius and the view from the top was spectacular. It was such a crystal clear day and we could see so far into the distance that we could see Switzerland, Italy and France from the one spot. Breathtaking doesn't even come close ...

... below us. It is the largest glacier in France at 7km long and 200m deep... AND WE WENT INSIDE IT!!

There was a small gondola which took us down closer to the glacier, but we still had to walk down 430 steps to get inside. The steps were built on top of the ice and rock and were quite wobbly at times. Heading down, we could see the marks above us on the rocks showing the height of the glacier in previous years. As ...
