    Today was beautiful and sunny, high around 80 with a strong breeze. We spent most of the day at the beach. Nice's beached are stony rather than sandy. Public and private beaches alternate along the coast. Private beaches can run as much as 20€ per person, including a lounge chair and umbrella. Our hotel provides mats, towels, and umbrellas for free so we decided to go to ...

    ... we visited her flat to tidy a few things up. Hanging up on the wall was the very same picture that I'd seen for so many years before in her old house. I kept it and to this day, it sits in a box in storage in the UK, one day awaiting a wall of my own to put it up on. It's probably of indeterminate age and the outside of the frame is covered in horrible wallpaper, but in sentimental value it's priceless.
