A day at Mont Tremblant, Quebec

... 3:30pm, we called it quit deciding to start heading home and to stop on our way for a bite to eat. The traffic, at certain places, was heavy, whereas light at other places. We elected to eat at the Laurentian's McDonald which was along the road. It is a very huge place. I had a ceasar supreme salad and Mi, a chicken burger with fries.

We arrived home at 6:00pm after a very funfilled day ...

Mont Tremblant.

... on which was cool. We went up the cable car thing which provided great views of the area, which took us up to what I assume was a piste - I've never skiied before, but as it was Mont Tremblant I guess that's it!! Obviously it wasn't in use for skiing at the time as there was no snow, but I hope to return in the winter, as the lady I live with (Renee) used to be a ski instructor, and the man I live ...

Chaud et humide...

... dos!)

HOME AT LAST!

... We only had 2 hours. Finally, we ate really fast and managed to get to the gate just as they were boarding. Disappointing, we didn't have time to rest and shop in the duties free before the long flight!! The long flight was just that LONG...15 hours, the personnel was not really nice and the food really sucked this time. Lyam and Mya were tired. So that made Annie and I tired. We had decent seats, economy plus. Lyam didn't cry or anything but ...

Home sweet home

Home at last, and it is indeed sweet. I've only made it 99% home, technically. I'm in Dollard, crashing at my folks' for the night while I use their amenities including the washer/dryer. So I haven't made it to my own place yet and I won't get to sleep in my own bed until tomorrow. But I've been fed Mom's cooking, I'm no longer living out of a backpack, and I've had great reunions with Elie and Iris, so far. More to follow in the next few days, as I look forward to seeing all ...

Plus ça change, plus ça change

I wanted to visit Montreal to see Genevieve, my friend from Spanish school. Thought about the train (too expensive) and the Greyhound (too long and smelly) but plumped instead for a Russian called Stav. I had heard about him through a girl at the hostel. Apparently he makes a living driving between Toronto and Montreal, undercutting the big boys. I called him up and booked my lift. My instructions were to meet by the carwash at the Shell garage on the outskirts of the city ...

Day 16: Home Sweet Home

... to focus on the positive. Of course, everyone wanted to hear about getting mugged, but I didn't want that to become the trip story. It would be unfair to what was otherwise a fantastic trip. Though it ended on a down note, my overall experience in Costa Rica was overwhelmingly positive. Beautiful beaches, amazing wildlife, incredible beauty... when I weigh the good against the bad, I have to say I'm extremely glad I went!

Can You Hear the Bell?

... and lunch we tried to climb up to the citadel on the top of the hill. We were fooled by the sunny conditions - it looked a lovely day, except that the wind was fast, blowing the snow into our faces and the wind chill was around -25 degrees so it whipped our faces and froze us very quickly. When we got to the Citadel the whole area was burried, the stairs and walkways were inaccessible and the snow was blowing very quickly over the open area, making it unsafe and ...
