Quebec City

A travel blog entry by birkborkasson

The last of our stops in Canada was Quebec City, deep into French speaking territory. Quebec turned out one of the nicest if not the nicest of the cities we have visited on our trip. The old town stretches very long with many old buildings, cobble stone, beautiful sights and lots to see and do. The city is divided in an Upper Town and a Lower Town …

One French Canadian city to the next

... super weird, especially considering it was all spoken in French and we had no idea what was going on until Beth explained it.
The next station had a massive line so we skipped it and went to the next - it was towards the end of the show so we were advised to come back for the last session that would be starting shortly, so we made our way to the last station. We weren't sure what was going on, there were a lot of cars turned up on their sides and smoke everywhere. A man ...

I woke up in France!?

... We are very close to the Rue St Jean, outside the city walls so we are 10 minutes from the Plains of Abraham, Quebec Parliament building, the city walls and the citadel. We are 20 minutes from the centre of town and the Chateau Frontenac.

So we wandered over the Plains of Abraham, named after a man called Abraham who used to graze his animals there. The plains have two Martello Towers, a band stand and lots of benches. The plains are a large ...

Since V is on a diet, I shall company him as much as I can. So I will go on one too. We searched for a workout as well and a diet.
Found a suitable one and I decided to eat tuna black beans sandwich for lunch everyday. Nothing will taste decent without V. I will save my appetite for 22nd December. :D
V and I will rent an apartment, we will cook there and have our ...

Quebec City & Surrounds

... that have been healed of their ailments by visiting the holy statue of Sainte Anne de Beaupre in the cathedral.

We then went for a drive over the bridge to the Ile d'Orleans or Orleans Island and to the Sainte PetronIlle village. The island is formed by the river forking near Quebec City and is only about 5km wide and 25km long, kind of like Rottnest in the middle of a river, so the river is obviously very wide. And the rivers ...

Best Breakfast I've had at a hotel

cool, funky rooms - very modern! Very neat bath/shower room. Loved the Glass suround in the shower. Fridge in room which was very handy. Nice part of town (lower-key), not so Tourista but stil easy to get to all the attractions of Old Quebec.

The owner is immensely friendly and helpful. I just loved the made-to-order breakfasts every morning!

    Wi-fi Internet worked great.

Would def stay again on my next trip to QC.

    Wish list:

    - Elevator (but, it's only a 2 story property and they will gladly carry your bags)

Coole, flippige Zimmer - sehr modern! Sehr sauberes Bad/Dusche.

Bestes neues Gasthaus in Quebec City

Best New Inn in Quebec City

Auberge Le Vincent is a wonderful new Inn located within walking distance new and old Quebec city. Only 10 rooms and they provide excellent personal service! Best feature is the glass shower in the bedroom! It's the prefect place to stay for a romantic night!
