... many of the fruits and veggies yet as our hosts took us for dinner last night and we did lunch out today. However, it is lovely to look at and I need fruit for a still-life painting class I am doing tomorrow.

Our first touring effort in our host's rather elegant Audi was to the unbelievably beautiful (stop me if I use this term more than 100 times) nearby medieval bastide village of Pujols. It is actually a designated "Beaux Village de France" ...

... packing it for my onward journey a cockroach ran out of my backpack and across the bed. I swished it onto the floor to then chase it with my shoe - noting it was halfway through laying an egg - eeeeek! A 2km steady incline followed - we all got into the uphill rhythm and coped well. As we entered Meyrals there was a giant scarecrow - it seemed to have been part of a fete as the church grounds had a wonderful collection of garden sculptures and scarecrows. We stopped at a boulangerie for ...

... but did stop in on the glass blower. On the homeward straight we had a steep uphill climb to the hotel. I had been having a few gear problems - lost of slipping uphill. Unfortunately I had only just started uphill and the chain came off and jammed in the rear wheel. I just couldn't budge it. Both Peter and I worked on it and in the end we had to remove the wheel and prod at it with my bike tool. With it finally removed we put the bike back together and walked to ...
