We left the hotel to drive up partway to Mt Fuji. No sooner than leaving Tokyo, we were caught up in a traffic jam for the next 30 minutes. It was rather foggy when we got to around the mountain. We were lucky to be able to see the mountain some of the time. We had a French bistro kind of lunch in a small café. We pretty much occupied the entire place. Food was surprisingly good. This evening we have dinner in the Japanese restaurant, they reserved a nice table in a tatami room for us. Excellent food and service. The waitress has to take off her shoes every time she brings us something, then kneels down next to the person she is serving. I feel my poor knees and hip every time I see her kneel down ...

We have done another bullet train today and travelled nearer to Tokyo. This afternoon we had some scrummy tempura for lunch and then went on the cruise ship around the lake. We did see Mount Fuji briefly from the train this morning but unfortunately it was too cloudy this afternoon to see it. We were going up on the cable car today but they are not running at the moment so this is why we did the boat. This afternoon we arrived at our ...
