... was beautiful. Unfortunately our photos do not do it justice, but we were so impressed! We got to see it for the rest of the gondola ride too! Much longer than my 2 second glimpse last trip! Owakudani was cold & windy, so we had a quick look at the sulphur pits and went for the gondola to Togendai. We saw Lake Ashi and it was very windy & choppy. We were also worried we would not get back in time for the last cable car train to our hotel, so we ...

... and I definitely had to try this (first time!). For those who don't know onsen: it's a natural hot spring and these can be found all across Japan. It comes with it's own rituals. First you have to thoroughly soap and scrub yourself under a shower, while sitting on a miniature stool that seems to be designed for infants. Then you make sure that you rinse off all the soap (also from around your shower place), before you slowly enter the ...

This was a little bit of a boo boo. I didn't realise when I booked a night near Mt Fuji that it would be such a poo to get to. When looking up the timetables were saying between 5-10 hours to get there. We decided to go straight into Tokyo then back out again and it seemed a pretty simple straight line. It was it just took ages. We had a circle line to Osaka then another line to the Shinkansen station at Shinosaka. Then easy going on the Shinkansen into Tokyo. ...
