    ... side of the road. The roundabouts do your head in a bit. All the French people we have met so far have been wonderful. Helpful and smiling and trying to help which is great. The countryside is delightful with tree lined roads and little villages snuggled into nooks and crannies and there is always the beautiful old church and graveyard to go with it.     ... had cabin fever so we hauled the bikes out of the compartment that they fit in, in the motorhome, donned our helmets, gloves, jackets, balaclavas and thermals and headed off.     ... very winding sandy trails. Losing our way extended the ride by 45min, so we really got our money's worth! While we were out on the trail, the boys did some shopping at a local market and played some arcade games. Classic pinball is always in style!

    We were lucky that the sun came out in the afternoon so we could take one final stroll on the beach before leaving the coast tomorrow. This relaxing week was a great way to wind down as our journey nears the end.

    Today we drove south to the town of Ypres which was almost totally destroyed in WW1. It is the site of the Mennen Gate War memorial that was developed by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.     ... holy image could be put on and much more you can't!! We did visit the grotto where it all began...a young girl slipped into this cave to shelter from the rain in about 1830 and saw a vision of Mary. This then re-occurred about 20 times, during one of which the vision led the girl to scrap back the earth to reveal a spring from which water gushed till this day. Its tiny, has been opened up for many to be seated around and contemplate this holy spot. The walls are blackened by ...
