... to our English ones, there were a few floats and a lot of children dressed in costumes. Here as well as in Venice everyone had bags of confetti that they throw at each other, we were hit a couple of times! We returned to the car park and headed back onto the wine trail, it just happens to be going in the direction that we are! We once again passed through some lovely villages until we reached the aires we had chosen. There is just one other camper ...

So, after being delayed a good hour and feeling pretty cranky, we had a choice of finding our way back to Haselbourg about 90km away or to try and continue with our plans for the day and head to the next attraction, the Alsace-Moselle Memorial at Schirmeck. ... in a France in 2013, and boy oh boy can see why!!

It's such a beautiful village with a population of just over 1500 people, quaintest of buildings and huge array of gorgeous little restaurants, no car zone in the centre which is of course where our guesthouse is. Our chambre is old, but very clean (and hot) , with a fantastic restaurant. Has received michelin star ratings. I chose frogs legs the sweetest juiciest ...

... br> We drove outside of Colmar to one of the villages on the Alsace route du vin (wine road) but didn't linger, because it was getting on in the afternoon by then. The drive back to our place in Eguisheim didn't take very long. Once there, we walked around town a little, then drove to a hillside high above town for a great view of the village below. We could even see Germany's Rhine River in the distance, a gleaming silver thread winding its way through the fertile, green ...
