    ... all the grand prix preparations. We drove past famous Chateaux Chillon, an ancient castle on the waterside, then on to Vevey, also on the Lake, but a lot quieter and had a drink on a terrace there. A quick trip home, stopping only to buy a pot of yummy Gruyere cream for dessert tonight.     ... a delightful and spacious residence filled with antique furniture, priceless rugs, and paintings that probably belong in a museum. Cyrill's family crest is proudly emblazoned throughout the apartment, including on a statue he recently commissioned above the main entrance. I warned the kids ahead of time not to touch anything, and told them that if they accidentally broke something I would have to garnish their allowance for the next 150 years.

We oversaw arguments between the "state party" representing Pakistan and an NGO (non-government organization) group. There was another set of groups that dealt with human rights in Ukraine.

    Since arriving in Basel on July 20th, and taking a tram down town and back, I have been struck by the incredible efficiency of the Swiss transport system. Our tram arrived when the sign said it would arrive, and our train the next day to Zurich left exactly when it was supposed to leave.
