    ... all the grand prix preparations. We drove past famous Chateaux Chillon, an ancient castle on the waterside, then on to Vevey, also on the Lake, but a lot quieter and had a drink on a terrace there. A quick trip home, stopping only to buy a pot of yummy Gruyere cream for dessert tonight.     ... a delightful and spacious residence filled with antique furniture, priceless rugs, and paintings that probably belong in a museum. Cyrill's family crest is proudly emblazoned throughout the apartment, including on a statue he recently commissioned above the main entrance. I warned the kids ahead of time not to touch anything, and told them that if they accidentally broke something I would have to garnish their allowance for the next 150 years.

    ... meeting where I was part of the "committee" which was the Committee for the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW). We oversaw arguments between the "state party" representing Pakistan and an NGO (non-government organization) group. There was another set of groups that dealt with human rights in Ukraine.

    12:35, 5-16 I have many random thoughts today. I am staying two nights in Bern, as it is quite a lovely city. I got a preview last night of the city with no charged iPod camera to bring. I am going out this afternoon to take pictures and buy a few neat trinkets. I saw a wild bird swinging a golfclub, all made out of stone and wiring. That kind of raw material art interests me.
