... being cropped. The area is a real food bowl. First stop was the Snow Monkey Park (minus the snow). The private tour for 4 continues. Quite cool, brilliant sunny day. A lovely walk through the forest for about 40 minutes before the hot springs pools where they tend to congregate. Just before the entrance there is various Onsen out in the open - would take a lot of courage to trot your private bits out for full display! While the monkeys ...

Put on our Yukata and shoes and walked to a nearby onsen. It was very hot, could only put legs in, Philip squirted cold water on us to help . Went for dinner , then back to the ryokan. Tatami and futons, tiny rice filled pillows. Best things today - the snow ...

The breakfast buffet was Japanese and Western and offered a large variety of items. It was served in a large hall overlooking the garden. We took the hotel shuttle to the center of Kusatsu and were dropped off at the bus station. After a short walk we arrived at the square where the Yubatake or the hot water field is. The hot spring water in Kusatsu has one of the highest temperatures of spring water in Japan, the temperature measures 94 Celsius. The Yubatake ...
