I also fell flat on my face a couple of times because the snow makes the walkway very slippery. I also tripped over branches a couple of times, resulting in a few bruises.

Early shinkansen to Nagano. Quite warm. Renovating so wander around construction site to local train to Yudanaka.
Local train "Snow Monkey Express" climbed up steady slope to many snow banked buildings, eventually snow-covered fields.
Yudanaka is grey and unimpressive at the station. We decide to take a taxi to hotel.
Arrive at hotel at about 1:30 so chose to walk up to Snow Monkeys. We were told we could check in before 4, or after 4:30.
