... we would be served an egg and toast but no – we had soup & salad and egg & ham, fruit & yogurt as well as toast, oh and coffee too. Most lunches we would eat at a restaurant at an average price of about $8 each. For dinners we would ride our bikes to a grocery store where they would have a large selection of tasty meals made up in the deli. That usually only cost about $5 each. We took these back to our large deck and enjoyed dinners there. ...

... YES you've seen it coming, we went one last time to the outdoor bath of the hotel onsen. Just because it was possible. After showering at least 8 times today ( you clean your body before and after going in the bath at the onsen), we still smell of rotten eggs ;( it is in the water and probably everywhere on Kyushu so I guess it will only stop once we are back in the NL... Which is in 4 days from now. Time flies when you're having fun ...

    scrub ...

This morning, we left Dogo Onsen early to catch a tram, a train and a ferry to Beppu, located on the Kyushu island. This is the last island we will be visiting. The boat trip to Beppu is quite long (almost 3 hours) and there are few places to sit. So we are adopting the local approach: take off your shoes and lie down / sit on the tatamis. Once settled, people play cards, chat with each other, read ...

Fathers Day & Early Japanese Exit

... a while (almost since we have arrived in Japan) but I have insisted that we stay and tough it out….Brown’s don’t quit. Particularly as we had already paid for the remainder of the accommodation.

In the end I think I would prefer to go home on a high rather than see Pete bored for the next couple of weeks. Plus, Noah and Wes have had enough, they just want to go home, see their family and play ...
