... the whole time. Somehow it didn't make it a worse experience though. It actually fitted the atmosphere. Kurokawa is said to have some of the prettiest onsen of Japan. Yea..... I can't say they are wrong. The baths I went to were really really REALLY pretty. ... beautiful. He will turn 88. They knew that Sahei Uchida was from Okayama but they do not know of any other Uchida relatives in Japan. Hozu gives me a photo of all the Uchida's - from grandma and grandpa down to Sho. He knows the names of everyone. They did not know that Iwaye Uchida was a picture bride. They were happy to see Jonathans picture because the last time they saw him he was a little boy. They were impressed that he was a Harvard professor. ...

... The animals get really close to the bus and the lions have not brushed their teeth yet or have used mouthwash. We get to smell their morning breath - we are that close. Anna has shown restraint for 3 weeks on buying gifts. I did not want to haul things from planes, trains, boats and taxis. She has birthday money from Uncle Tom earmarked for this Japan trip burning a hole in her purse. This is our last day ...
