    ... famous for its beer , anyway we tried 3 a Trapis , one tasting vaguely of pine and a blond one , all very different 9% alcohol for the blond ! (You can go as nigh as 13%). A cheese croquet / onion soup weren't all that filling after missing lunch ,again , so we finished off with a couple of salads, crashed at 9.30. Thursday 18 September . A bit of a brief shower before breakfast , but another sunny day in the mid 20's . The belfry was our first stop 366 steps up for a fine view ...

    ... a cobbled gated yard. It's run by Sue and Paul, an English biking couple and the great advantage for the solo traveller is the hayloft, a communal sleeping space that is just €18 for B&B.



    In the evening I stroll into the neighbouring town of St Pol where there is a bar restaurant where they brew there own wheat beer and then back for an early night.

    500 miles drive back to Calais today......
    Left the site at Issoire at 7 and left the motorway north of Orleans at 10:30. Bit more traffic and the detour around Rouen but we got to the site at Calais after a lunch stop and a coffee break for 4:00. Little tent up in 20 mins, quick beer then off to the new pool for a dip then curry for tea. ...

    3 hrs to Thurrock,way ahead of time so coffee at services. Bad move. As we came out a truck had caught fire before the bridge and led to over an hour delay. We were offered an early train so took it and ended up in Calais at 4:00. 30 mins drive to our fave little site in Licques. Omelette and frites for tea washes down with Organic Cotes du Rhone at £2:50 a bottle from ...
