    ... quite a while in the cathedral....just amazing. It's hard to fathom just how old it is and how it was built. To think we climbed the same stairs that Thomas Becket once climbed. It's a huge place with enormously high ceilings. Then a short drive to board the ferry for the trip across the channel to France. We've lost an hour so it's become very late very quick.....but doesn't feel like it, still light at ...

    The journey through England was fine until we hit Operation Stack.  Somehow we still managed to reach Folkestone in good time for our train but overnight 'perturbation' by migrants meant all travellers were delayed by about two hours anyway, Made it to St Omer at about 7.20pm, just in time to make our way to this restaurant in the centre of what was quite a nice town.  The hotel was very basic and a little musty smelling so we were pretty pleased to be saying just for the ...

    Friday 11th October 2013

    Licques, Pommiers des Trois Pays (N50 46’ 47” E1 56’ 52”), an ACSI site, 14Euro per night.

    A very neat little place, on the edge of the village of Licques, which has a small supermarket etc.
    We are quite away from the coast but still near Calais, so, a reasonable option either just before catching the ferry, or, just after getting off ...

    ... on alcohol, fresh bread, warm from the oven, and very fattening cream cakes.

    The rain has stopped, gale has subsided to “very windy”.
    A few miles back along the coast, towards Calais, we stop at Wimereux, L’Ete Indien (N50 45’10” E1 36’28”), an ACSI site (16Euro).

    ... and it will vary from place to place....we have Free WiFi on the bus!!!! I will send this blog on to you....just remember to check it a couple of times a day.....or even go back to it as I will update several times a day Arrived Paris (!!!!!!!!!) at 4pm. Nice room.
