    Sat 2nd May

Still cold and grey when we packed up and left at 9.30, but just about dry. We opted for non-toll D roads all the way to La Suze – sur – Sarthe, which made for a pretty drive, but with lots of roundabouts. France does not do traffic lights at many crossroads, but does believe in roundabouts, at least we are ...

It was a little like traveling down to theMornington Peninsula on a beautiful day only French! The French road system on the smaller roads have many, many roundabouts and it becomes quite ...

On Saturday afternoon we arrived at Charles de Gaulle Airport thinking "This will be easy, collect the car and we'll be there by late afternoon" Ha ha 2 hours later we were still stuck on the Paris ring road called Périphérique! Traffic was crawling at 10kmph! Anyway once we got onto the freeway it was full speed ahead, however we watched the sun set as we drove and it was very dark when we turned off the highway and had to find our way in the dark along country lanes until ...

... proper brekky and so was glad for a break and biscuits - what the French call 'des gateaux'). I was stopped in the corridor by a lady one of the teachers called Gaelle, and she asked if I'm from Wales, where in Wales and told me that she had a penfriend in Cardiff and she had visited 3 times. She had pretty good English and we spoke in english - it was the school's english day after all :P. Oh I just remembered I need to look up the french ...
