Early start today - breakfast at 8am - I think this is probably the earliest we have had breakfast all week. We had two options today - the longer route included a visit to Eyrignac Manor Garden and we hadn't done a garden visit yet. It was also said to be one of the most beautiful formal French 18C gardens. The longer route hd some significant hills at the start of the day - within the first 20km. ... again. In fact it's amazing how dirty it was - I had begun to assume it was grey, not white... We then hit the village and liked the look of it so went straight to the camp-site which was only 400m from the action and the chateau. The chateau is lovely - not big, as castles go, but very pretty and in a gorgeous setting surrounded by a moat and trees and parklands and gardens. Lovely. We had a wander through that, and decided to go commando....without ...

Montresor, France

... places, and the daily running costs, with probably at least 20 or more, permanent staff, it is no wonder that many of them folded just from the overheads, especially since one of the castles we looked, at the owner had spent just 3 days there in almost 60 years of ownership...! Amazing! Well, this morning at Montresor, (I think it's Wednesday) after I'd hoofed-it down into town ( only 800m, there and back, to buy some fresh baguettes, hot from the oven, ...
