Salut Paris!

... two levels you can climb up to (or you can take a lift) and then you can
take the last lift right to the top. I was planning to take the lift right to the top but on
level 1 they were showing all these mini movie snippets where the eifel tower appeared. I
watched the old superman clip where superman saves the girl in the elevator falling down the
tower after the elevator cord snapped. After seeing that I decided level 2 was a good enough
view for me (notice I am ...

Snails, stalkers and sunshine!

... Maccas and KFC but the French have decided that the street must keep its exclusivity and there are to be no neon lights, only white lights. So this is the only Maccas in the world where you will find white arches instead of yellow arches. Bit of trivia for ya!
We reached the Arc De Triumphe which Napolean wanted built so his troops would have something to walk through when they returned from winning a war. Unfortunately he died 15 years before it was completed!
We then walked ...

Back to Paris

... the English speaking person was not yet there, the young man who received our vehicle, and drove us back to the TGV station, was particularly helpful, even with our stumbling and somewhat incoherent French.

The TGV station at St Exupery is a modern, sweeping, winglike structure that looks fantastic as one approaches it. It is obviously designed for a high volume of passengers but we almost had the place to ourselves at 11:30 this morning ...

... and efficient) to get to the Eiffel Tower and the Rue Cler market for the evening. Touts where everywhere selling little Eiffel Tower key chains for 1 Euro. I walked out on the bridge for a photo and witnessed the start of a fight between the (apparently) two different factions of key chain sellers. I tried to find a camera battery and was unsuccessful. So far, the camera has held out. Tomorrow morning I fly to Toulouse in the South.

Paris!

... that we could complain about it all day. When we were climbing up hills or something we were burning off that Flunch, if I had an upset stomach it was because of the Flunch. It's just a really funny name and it was fun to say it all the time. Although my upset stomach probably was from Flunch because my steak that I had was so raw it was purple. I'm not exaggerating I swear. Ugh. After Flunch we took a look at Notre Dame, which is always fun to see. There was a huge tree in ...

... was going to have to be lightened. So while we were searching for a way to shed some weight Lesley and I both found our super sharp knife by accident. So there we stood bleeding at the Air France counter what a great start. We ended up taking a compression sack out and took it as a carry on. Which strikes me as funny since the weight is still on the airplane but is now unaccounted for. Whatever makes the Frenchies happy. Security- I'm glad to know ...

... in Paris. It was so nice to have Mexican--that's one thing I miss from home. We were only at the Louvre for a few hours, so we didn't even see the majority of it. They said that if you spent 1 minute in front of each piece of art that it would take you 3 months to see everything!! It is a massive gallery. We did see the Venus de Milo and the Mona Lisa. There was such a ...

... glamourous and in fact currently I probably acheive such status in my look more days than not. Even still, put me in an airport and I am a backpacker... I'd been judging the people in Geneva's airport, that hungover morning, thinking. Why on Earth would these people be wearing designer suits or red stiletto heels (that I'd been planning to scope out in North America) on international flights? Maybe their flights weren't as long ...

... 5000 of your favorite hot and sweaty French men and women, somewhat like those t-shirts that you can buy which are shrink wrapped into a tight little ball (I'm thinking specifically of the Bubba Gump Shrimp Factory restaurants)... simple proceed to your nearest Paris Metro station around midnight following a French football (soccer) victory and join in on the party! Its quite an experience!
