... pour people out onto the streets, drinks in hand. Music comes from all corners; heavy bass from the discos mixes with the melodies of guitars in the streets. Teenagers on motorized scooters whip through the crowd, doing catwalks, honking horns, screeching tires, and narrowly missing pedestrians.
A group of people walks past me, and as they do, one of them smashes a liquor bottle on the ground not so far from where I'm sitting. The response is quick as ...
Over the last months of travel, we’ve met and talked with many people about what we’re doing. As you can imagine, we’re greeted with many responses. Most can’t fathom a trip without end or adgenda. Some say they admire what we’re doing. Setting off onour own, turning our back on convention and creating an adventure. Others think we’re fools. Although the woman who said that ...
Marseille, Provence, France 2totango... chair who fell on the cobblestone streets of Capri and fractured her tibia. Like i have said before, some of these people are trying to do things they shouldn't be doing. The movie tonight on MUTS is Ghosts of Girlfriends Past with Matthew McConaughey...don't know if i can convince Bob to go but i think it sounds funny. Tomorrow the weather sounds great for Barcelona so hopefully we will have something more interesting to report. Ciao for now:)
Marseille, Provence, France sscaswellSo we left St Tropez to head towards Avignon. I wanted to drive along the coast and we found a little road to take us there.. Little alright! It was about 11 or 17km of narrow winding steep roads. The worst part was the cars we occasionally ran into coming the other way and the big drop on the other side!
But it was all worth it. We found all these beautiful little beaches. We stopped at one and ...
... 8230; window open inviting… people like ants scurrying around below in a hurry to go nowhere… a big porcelain pot over in the corner… But I’ll have to keep looking. There’s one more possibility, another place here close to the gare. I feel like a bird scurrying around with a piece of straw and no place to lay it down. That’s the only thing Jesus said where he really blew it. "Do the ...
Marseille, Provence, France hardiek... where Africa meets Europe, but indeed where Saharan Africa meets sub-Saharan Africa. If the Arab is the main foreign influence, still you’re as likely to encounter a black African in traditional dress here as you are in many parts of Africa, and that makes it pretty special, many varied peoples bound by the French language, and others by Islamic culture. All I need is some WiFi and you can count me in, for a week at least. (to be continued...)
... still be drinking German beer out of some plastic sippie cup.
I hope this guide helps anyone who wants to tackle Marseille. All of these methods worked time and time again for me. Trust me, France is worth the aggravation because it really is a pretty country with some awesome food. We are moving on to Malaga, Spain and Gibralter next via good ole Ryanair of course so I will update you with the latest and greatest from there later on.
... aqueduct system and you could see at least 5 or 6 of them, showing the route that the aqueduct took, as well as being able to see the channel that was at the top in which the water flowed from the source (presumably near the mountains) to the destination (presumably the middle of town). I have uploaded some pictures from that here.
From there, we went back to Toulon, walked around a bit, and plan to sample some local cuisine for dinner. Tomorrow - Nice!
... I imagine it must be the result of a mineral deposit. We parked the cars at an overlooking parking lot and only stayed for a few minutes, during which time I became fascinated with the vegetation on the hill. I found zucchini, rosemary, and chamomile all growing naturally at the edge of the parking lot; it turns out that people had been using the hill as a dumping spot for their compost, from which the plants must have grown. Some of ...
Toulon, France surrealcereal... we went to two of the Iles d'Hyeres (Port Crus and Levant), a bit of a disaster due to strong winds. I insisted on walking through the forest path and along the coastal path but Yoong did not enjoy this and was frightened by our closeness to the steep cliffs. She was afraid the wind could blow us over. Even worse, the boat ride back was through very rough seas, which was even more terrifying ...
