It's been a hectic few days, getting ready for this trip, but finally I'm on my way! Pegasus Airlines cancelled my Istanbul to Konya flight and I didn't find out till late Sunday! Managed to rebook for the next morning (Wed) and find a room in the airport hotel. Now I'm on my way ...
... on the night of the 800 year celebration of the town. Everyone seemed to be out enjoying the balmy evening and free entertainment...... And so were we! We even got interviewed by a lovely guy from the local paper. The only issue was trying to negotiate the language, which is a particular dialect of German. Of particular issue the use of parking meters and the menus, but both were eventually negotiated with the assistance of helpful ...
... to do list. Some parts of that list have been great fun: initial research, planning the route, buying the plane tickets, simply dreaming, talking to friends and family about it....and of course, equipment shopping!

It was nice inside, but once out, we started looking around for signs of St Jacques as I knew this place was on the Camino trail, and it wasn't long before we were on the trail and heading out of the city !!! Realising that it was best to turn back, beer o'clock beckoned and we found a bar and relived the day !!!
The next morning, we packed up and made our way back to the airport, and now we only have 52 more weeks to go !!!

Shops close at 7pm, so we didn’t get to the supermarket, but there was a mini supermarket close by so we bought some water and snacks and drinks there. Already we could see that Switzerland was as we remembered, expensive! But wow, the old town centre area is amazing! Very hilly and with lovely little laneways ...
