We arrived in St Malo at 8am Sunday morning, and waited in the departure lounge for about 3 hours untill aymericks friend eddy turned up.
Playing out guitars in an empty terminal, hungover, eddy finally arrived and we drove down in his make shift old banger of a mobile home van. Eddys family are beautiful, he has 3 great kids and a beautiful cottqge in awsome village.
... small hole in his head. The chapel was later enlarged to house an abbey for Benedictine nuns, and it was further enlarged over the centuries. The island was historically part of Brittany (something about where it was placed in relation to the river), but since the 19th century it has been part of Normandy. It was then that the causeway was built that goes from the mainland to the island, and this essentially dammed up the sea surrounding the island and apparently ...
Le Mont-St-Michel, Normandy, France londonpenguin... and closer revealed details that I could not see before. A tiny little island self-contained in the water all walled up and rising high in the center. Unfortunately, upon arrival I see that there are 100’s of other tourists parked outside in cars and buses, and those too cheap to pay for parking are walking along the causeway. All funneled into the terribly cute ...

Been watching these strange little creatures called quail. Tiny little birds that are easily cupped between your two hands. They are so small they're hardly used for meat, but their eggs are considered a bit of a delicacy - especially in the UK. What makes a delicacy? If it's the fact ...
... this is cruelty. But any meat that is eaten came from an animal that was once alive and was killed. Period. There's no other way around it. The only thing is, most people these days are separated from their food (except for the last stage- cooking) and don't have to see it happen or do it themselves. Neither one of us like the idea of killing animals, we like them alot. Which is another reason why we want to farm this way. At least then we ...
Vire, Normandy, France 2totangoOur first official day of 'work', and we got to stain window frames! Not quite the farm work I'd envisioned, but OK none the less. Strange working side by side with Brian as we haven't done that much. We tend to each work on different tasks. I was expecting frustrated bursts as is the norm, but we communicated well and didn't have it out - even once! Maybe this trip is teaching us a ...
Vire, Normandy, France 2totango... ran after 2 men who were going in to get their morning cafe and spoke rapid Francais to them for a minute or tow. Returning with the map, he hopped onto his bike and told us to follow him! We chased this man all through town barely able to keep up, while he puffed on his cigar the whole way. Every light was green as we zipped over the road, through cross walks and onto paths finally stopping at our exit. Then, as quickly as ...
Vire, Normandy, France 2totangoMount-St-Michel is a giant abbey on an island in the middle of the sea. When it was low tide people could walk or drive to the church but it would then become completely surrounded by water by the time the tide rolled in again. The church itself is pretty amazing and it must have been even more so when it was harder to access. It makes a great photograph and is very spiritual but ...
Le Mont-Saint-Michel, Basse-Normandie, France moore_mattj... but we saw alot :) Just makes us realize that not all is so bad at home - but we have been warned to expect 1.50/lt for fuel when we get back!! Talking to people here, inflation is high and it is causing alot of strife all over Europe as wages are no where near the cost of living. The exception was in Switzerland - where we felt it was extremely expensive - but the people said they got paid well so it wasn't an issue for them.
Avranches, Normandy, France travelmenu... that grazed on grass that grows on the salt flats. If I say that it was OK thats being generous. Jordans was the best - she had pork filet. Then it was back to the Mont for a nighttime tour. Most of the crowds had gone and the lighting, sea winds and Latin chants made for a very surrealistic experience. You could really imagine what it would have been like to walk these halls 700 years ago. It was really awe ...
